The Gulf of Lune, named after the river Lhûn or "Lune", was created during the War of Wrath when Beleriand was broken.
The remnant of Beleriand north of the gulf became known as Forlindon, and the part south of it as Harlindon (North and South Lindon).
During the Second Age the ships of the Númenóreans first came to the Gulf of Lune to visit the Ñoldor and Sindar under Gil-galad who remained behind, and during the Third Age from it the ships of the Eldar passed away into the West.

On the The Lord of the Rings map, Beleriand would have been far to the west, beyond the Blue Mountains (Ered Luin), which also appear at the far right of the The Silmarillion map.
It is difficult to make an exact correlation because the mountain range was much altered, having been split when the Gulf of Lune created.
Nogrod and Belegost, the ancient dwarf-cities, are located on the The Silmarillion map, and existed as ruins in the Third Age, but where they fall on the The Lord of the Rings map is not known (they were said to be "near Nenuail", which is only slightly helpful).

In fact, the map suggests other Elven settlements exist on the Gulf of Lune, since Harlond and Forlond are noted in the same type of letters that note Rivendell, Hollin, and the Wood-Elves (though they are smaller than all-caps LORIEN).
