		The reported arrest of Abu Salem has given a new dimension to the Gulshan Kumar case since Salem had allegedly accepted the contract to eliminate the audio king.
		Salem conspired with music composer Nadeem Akhtar Saifee to kill Gulshan Kumar in August 1997 and later formed a separate gang.
		It now seems certain that Abu Salem, one of the most notorious names in Mumbai's underworld and wanted extortionist from the city's film industry, has been arrested in the UAE.

		A man charged with shooting dead the Bollywood music baron, Gulshan Kumar, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Indian city of Bombay.
		Mohammed Rauf Merchant was accused of opening fire on Mr Kumar, the founder of the Indian music company T-Series, outside a temple in 1997.
		Bombay police say Mr Kumar's murder was the result of a conspiracy between the owner of a rival music company, Ramesh Taurani, a leading Bollywood music director, Nadeem Saifi, and a Dubai-based alleged gangster, Abu Salem.

		The film actors were called by the prosecution to throw more light on the conspiracy to kill Kumar on August 12, 1997, outside a temple in suburban Juhu in the city.
		It is certainly a blow to the prosecution, said Memon, and it is unfortunate that nothing has been learnt despite the Indian government paying Rs63 million to Nadeem, as directed by the London high court for the legal expenses incurred by him.
