Lok Sabha MP from Guna Jyotiraditya Scindia and AICC general secretary in charge of Madhya Pradesh Mukul Wasnik urged home minister Shivraj Patil on Tuesday to send a central team to Gwalior for an on-the-spot study of the deteriorating law and order situation there.
Elected to the Lok Sabha in February 2002 from his father the late Madhavrao Scindia's constituency Guna in Madhya Pradesh, Jyotiraditya was initiated into his new career with an almost unprecedented lead of votes - a lead of more than 450,000.

On August 15, 2003, three new districts were created; Anuppur district was split from Shahdol, Ashoknagar district was split from Guna, and Burhanpur district was split from Khandwa (East Nimar).
In 1998 and 1999, seven new districts were created: Barwani district was split from West Nimar, Dindori district was split from Mandla, Harda district was split from Hoshangabad, Katni district was split from Jabalpur, Neemuch district was split from Mandsaur, Sheopur district was split from Morena, and Umaria district was split from Shahdol.
Another nine districts were created in the eastern portion of the state, which became the new state of Chhattisgarh on November 1, 2000.

By 1993, this centre had completed studies on haemoglobinopathies among all the seven primitive tribes - the Abujhmarias of Abujhmar (Bastar district), Baigas of Baigachak (Mandla district), Birhors (Raigarh district), Bharias of Patalkot (Chindwara district), Hill Korwas (Sarguja, Jashpur, Raipur and Bilaspur districts), Kamars (Raipur district) and Saharias (Shivpuri, Guna, Morena, Gwalior and Datia districts).
Subsequently, three campaigns of penicillin injections were carried out by the State Government but it could not be eradicated.
The findings of this study were rather startling.

By-polls in the Guna-Shivpuri Parliamentary constituency were necessitated after the untimely demise of senior Congress leader Madhavrao Scindia in September last year.

 Two Pardis arrested for Saket murders
NEW DELHI, February 12: The police have arrested two Pardi youths from Guna district in Madhya Pradesh in connection with the murder of an elderly couple in Saket on December 25, 1998.
The breakthrough in the case apparently followed a tip-off about an altercation between two communities -- the Pardis and the Nuts -- in village Kherja (in Guna district) over a stolen goat.
The Pardis had reportedly stolen a goat from the Nuts and slaughtered it to celebrate ``their big success in Delhi''.
