Gundam X - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After War Gundam X (or "Gundam X") is an anime television series from Japan.
Ironically, given the post-apocalyptic setting, Gundam X has a considerably more upbeat cast of heroes than most Gundam series, and one of the higher survival rates as well.
Ironically, the side story manga Gundam X: Under the Moonlight, released as a tie-in with the DVD release of Gundam X, proved unexpectedly popular and was extended from six chapters to ten.

It was directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, who had written and directed a number of previous Gundam works, being for all intents and purposes the main creator of the franchise.
This series was made after Tomino had recovered from his depression that influenced Zeta Gundam and Victory Gundam, and the general tone and mood of Turn A is much more hopeful and less dark than his other series.
One of the moon palaces is a Squid battleship from Victory Gundam, and there are similar references to almost all of the Gundam series.

By chance, fifteen-year-old Garrod Ran has discovered an old Federation mobile suit, the Gundam X, and now he uses it to help out the Vulture ship Freeden in its struggle to keep the powers that be from repeating the mistakes of the past.
Due perhaps to a lack of interest, Gundam X was cut short by 10 episodes and its timeslot was switched to a dismal Saturday morning 6 am after 26 episodes.
It also marked the end almost 4 straight years of weekly Gundam broadcast and was the last Gundam series to be aired on TV Asahi.

Another side story in the Gundam series, Gundam X is the story of those survivors of the Seventh Space War trying to live among the ruins of their civilization.
Gundam X is an example of when alternate universes just should NOT exist.
Whereas Gundam, though at times saddening, was exciting, suspenseful, and full of life, Gundam X is completely bleak and inhuman, and loses the point that Gundam is actually less about the mecha than about humanity itself.

Gundam X - Characters and Mecha
Every Gundam built during the war is equipped with a "flash system" that takes advantage of a newtype pilot's special powers, and among the special features enabled by this system is the ability to remote-control drone mobile suits.
Soon enough, he finds himself at the controls of the eponymous GX-9900 Gundam X. The Gundam X has large reflective plates on its back that unfold into an "X" shape; these appear to act as capacitors, storing energy beamed from the lunar surface until they've accumulated enough power to activate the Gundam's "satellite cannon".
During the great war, Jamil was a Gundam X pilot - perhaps the only Gundam X pilot, since the multiple Gundams we see in the prologue may well be remote-controlled via the flash system.
