Gunsan, port city at the mouth of the Kum river on the west coast of North Cholla province, Republic of Korea, about 125 miles S.S.W. of Seoul and 30 miles W.N.W. of Chonju.
Originally a poor fishing village, Gunsan underwent rapid development when the modern port was opened in 1899 and a rail link was established by a branch line from Pusan.
Gunsan is particularly noted as a rice-shipping port and much of its commercial activity centers around the processing, storing and transport of the rice grown in the rich Kum river basin.

The trip as per usual was draining, although I was lucky enough to score an empty seat between Andong and Gumi (sadly not pronounced Gummi), but then had to share from Daejon to Gunsan with a guy who had a nasty habit of snoring.
Much like Andong the contrast between summer and winter is very evident in Gunsan as I’m sure it is everywhere else in Korea.
On the bus trip between Gunsan and Daejon I was forced to sit on the back seat next to an extremely beautiful woman (not that I was force to sit next to a beautiful woman that is) and as you do on most longish trips we both fell asleep.

People are very nice--everywhere, really, but when I'm travelling the basic courtesies and small intimacies become huge, significant and symbolic beyond reason, really...but just to have a little girl laugh with me, slap my hand and make jokes with me, meant a lot.
Understand: in Gunsan, I have seen another white person on the street--they come in ones in Gunsan--maybe a handful of times.

KBS got the right picture of the aircraft and the correct base they're deployed to (although it'll always be Kunsan to me).
Therefore, Gunsan is correct phonetic Spelling not Kunsan.
