		The blue loco # 17808 is from SCR's Guntakal shed while the other loco # 17803 is from SR's Erode shed which seems to hint the fact that DLW made all the Jumbos in a batch.

		At stake, approximately, is Rs 500 crore to Rs 600 crore annual revenue generated by the Guntakal division, which has jurisdiction over the profitable Bellary-Hospet line.

		For non-railway folks, both Miraj and Guntakal are no-name towns, but they are good sized railway junctions, and the railways get to name trains.
		The parts of Karnataka that the route goes through are fertile crop bearing regions and not the water starved Gulbarga localities (although at the time we were passing through, Hubli and other areas were severely short of water and were considered for cloud seeding).
		That route had a shorter metre gauge section, from Guntakal to Bangalore, and that was converted to broad gauge earlier, providing for a direct service from Mumbai to Bangalore, and that legacy continues.

		What is odd is the cavalier manner in which the South-Central Railway made known the cancellation of trains, with the announcement pertaining to today's services coming late in the evening, causing hardship to passengers.
		The agitation in Bellary, demanding the retention of the Tornagallu-Bellary-Guntakal section slated for transfer to Guntakal Division, in the Hubli Division of the South-Central Railway, is 50 days old.
		The South-Central Railway, which has been accused of having taken steps to integrate the section within the Guntakal Division in terms of the orders issued by the Railway Board, eight months before the deadline, has been responding by cancelling trains.

		The agitation is a sequel to the move on the part of the Railway Board in creating new divisions and new zones which will come into force from April next.
		Under the new arrangement, Hubli and Guntakal divisions come under the new South Western Railway and the existing South Central Railway respectively, and the 115-km.
		The only official team, which visited Bellary, was headed by the Additional Divisional Railway Manager of the Guntakal Division, who was hardly in a position to comment on the points raised by the agitating people.

		Getting into Guntakal was one exciting thing being a junction with a lot of fanouts.
		The unfortunate thing is that so many extras boarded at Adoni and the place was quite cramped for the few stations - the TC's always coming to the coach late, and thus I was not able to get such a good view of the place.
		I guess Guntakal was the point where the locos dropped on or off from "home".

	The Hindu : Revenue-earning line goes to Guntakal
		The Bangalore and Mysore divisions, which were with the Southern Railway, and the Hubli Division of the South-Central Railway, have been made part of the South-Western Railway Zone.
		Prior to the uni-gauge project, the metre gauge portion between Hospet and Guntakal was under the control of the Hubli Division and the parallel broad gauge line between the two destinations was controlled by the Guntakal Division.
		The existing Hospet-Bellary-Guntakal broad gauge line, which was under the Guntakal Division, has remained with the same division and ultimately the freight earnings between Guntakal and Hospet were credited to Guntakal Division and all coach earnings were credited to Hubli Division.

		The Ministry of Railways has issued a Notification revising the jurisdiction of 23 Railway Divisions and fixing the jurisdiction of eight newly created Divisions with immediate effect.
		While the area of jurisdiction of Nanded, Agra, Guntur, Raipur, Ranchi, Pune, Rangia and Ahmedabad, the eight newly created Divisions has been fixed, the area of jurisdiction of the 23 existing Divisions revised, the important being Hubli, Guntakal and Jhansi.
		In the case of Guntakal Division, its area of jurisdiction has been brought down from 1573 RTKMs to 1397 RTKMs.

		Five passengers were killed and 25 injured, five of them seriously, on Sunday morning when a speeding train rammed into an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporations bus at an unmanned level crossing in Anantapur district.

		Guntakal _ Bellary MG Trip was also through (I am yet to submit a trip report of that trip Will be doing it shortly) Finally I was left out with the Guntakal Diesel Shed.
		The Guntakal Diesel shed once had about 120 MG locos (This shed is older than the Golden Rock Workshop at Tiruchirapalli) now it is left only with 11 locos.
		The fuel tank capacity of these locos is about 3000 liters for the MG and about 4000 liters for the BG locos.
