  Erich von Manstein
Erich von Manstein (November 24, 1887 - June 11, 1973) was a general, and later a Field Marshal, in the German Army during World War II.
Manstein was born Erich von Lewinski in Berlin, the tenth child of Prussian aristocrat and artillery general Eduard von Lewinski.
von Manstein then proposed an action for the summer to push the Red Army into the Sea of Azov at Rostov, but Hitler instead chose to back Operation Citadel and he was ordered to Kursk.

In September 1939 World War II began, and von Rundstedt was recalled to lead Army Group South during the successful invasion of Poland.

Henning von Tresckow was born in Magdeburg, Germany in 1901.
Fedor von Bock, Gunther von Kluge, Erich von Manstein and Gerd von Rundstedt all refused, but were sympathetic enough not to inform the Gestapo about his activities.
Tresckow had recruited Claus von Stauffenberg in 1942, and he was chosen to plant a bomb at a meeting attended by Hitler on July 20, 1944.

A short time later an assassination attempt on Hitler's life is attempted, and because Von Kluge is involved with this he is called to appear in Hitler's headquarters.
Von Kluge is then replaced by Field-marshal Walter Model who is not only OBW now but also Army-leader of Army-Group B. An almost impossible task.
