Gus was the luckiest man in the world and his life became so much better after he heard you utter the question, "Could I have ten minutes of your time?" You completed him and stretched ten minutes into a lifetime of love.
I knew Gus from working at Skydive Deland, he always had a smile on his face and was always willing to share his words of wisdom.I always admired Gus and Lydia's love for eachother, it was so beautiful and special.
Gus took the time to talk to me (a rookie) and to learn me a great way of exiting the otter and gave me pointers for the grand caravan (which I jump at my home DZ in The Netherlands).

 Nicholas Allen Harp: Fever Dreams
Animals are regular inhabitants of Edson’s landscapes, as are unnamed “men,” “women,” “boys,” and “girls,” their generic identities smoothed over with definite and indefinite articles so as to suggest archetypes.
Edson’s father Gus was himself a cartoonist, and he seems to have passed along a devotion to the direct visual.
(Edson is an experienced painter in his own right, and he frequently contributes the cover art to his poetry volumes.) Rounding off each of these fantasy sketches are the poet’s signature concluding ellipses, which suggest that these poems are not meant to end so much as trail off into the ether of the subconscious.

Sydney Smith created The Gumps in 1917 and continued it until his death in 1935; Gus Edson took over in that year.
The date "11-1" is written in the first panel; the year is written on the back and may be incorrect, for references indicate that The Gumps ended its run in 1959.
It is possible that Edson attempted to revive the comic strip in the 1960s and that this is an unpublished original.

 Don Markstein's Toonopedia: The Gumps
Patterson hired sports cartoonist Gus Edson (who later co-created Dondi) to take over the strip, and Edson's work on it began appearing on December 16, 1935.
Tho Edson made a reasonably successful attempt to continue it in Smith's style, his version of The Gumps wasn't nearly as popular as Smith's.
Except for a few comic books from Dell and Big Little Books from Whitman (the latter featuring Andy's and Min's son, Chester), the merchandising dried up.

On this set, David Byrne gets head-nodding rhythm; Stereolab is reduced to a swirl of melodies (including Laetitia's incomprehensible voice) and beats; Rockers Hi-Fi toast on a bed of fat bass lines and brass kicks, amidst a mellow dancehall haze.
