 Amazon.ca: Music: Vetiver
Vetiver's first album is a rather wonderful debut, and possibly telling of a very interesting place for the band in the contemporary folk scene.
Produced by Cabic with Thom Monahan, Vetiver's self-titled debut is a stark yet lovely affair of shimmering acoustic melodies and intimate songs that don't mope but gush with a kind of blissful grace.
Actually, "Vetiver" is the name of an essential oil which is described as "Woody, earthy, herbaceous, spicy almost smoky," which is not a bad description for the overall mood of the songs included here.

 Interview with 60 Watt Shaman
: Some bands are afraid to say that their producers had an impact on their records, but sometimes when the bands feel that something remarkable has happened they simply gush about their producers.
My love of music comes from those bands and individuals that wrote songs that mean something special every time I hear them whether it be Led Zeppelin, the Black Crowes, Jimi Hendrix, or Slayer for that matter as we were listening to Slayer last night at practice.
But, at the same time for a band like ourselves, we play certain types of music that would sound similar to other bands that get put in the 'stoner rock' category.

Cyclic Defrost - Issue #002 (December 2002) - Essendon Airport - Sonic Investigations Of The Trivial (Chapter)
The album is a document of a band waaay ahead of it's time, named after the sought after 7" EP the duo released in 1979 on Innocent Records.
But don't think it's all so high-brow; in fact the melodies gush with the simplicity of all great songs.
Yet with Essendon Airport we can actually see it happen, the simple addition of a homemade drum-machine, that today you could implant in a single eyelash follicle, transforms the band from noodlers to landscape painters.
