Gustav Freytag (July 13, 1816 - April 3, 1895) was a (A person of German nationality) German (Someone who writes plays) dramatist and (Someone who writes novels) novelist.
Among Freytags other works may be noticed Die Technik des Dramas (1863); an excellent biography of the Baden statesman Karl Mathy (1869); an (A biography of yourself) autobiography (Erinnerungen aus meinen Leben, 1887); his Gesammelte Aufsatze, chiefly reprinted from the Grenzboten (1888); Der Kronprinz wed die deutsche Kaiserkrone; and Erinnerungsbidtter (1889).
Freytag's Gesammelte Werke were published in 22 volumnes, at (A city in southeastern Germany famous for fairs; formerly a music and publishing center) Leipzig (1886-1888); his Vermischte Aufsatze have been edited by E. Elster, autobiography mentioned above, the lives by C. Alberti (Leipzig, 1890) and F. Seiler (Leipzig, 1898).
