Gustav IV Adolf (1778-1837), king of Sweden, of the house Holstein-Gottorp, was the son of Gustav III of Sweden and Sophia Magdalena of Denmark, and born at Stockholm on November 1, 1778.

He studied composition and piano in Baltimore with Gustave Strube, Arthur Friedheim, Paul La Flem, and Isidore Phillipp.

An effigy of Gustave STONEHOUSE, who was arrested last night charged with an outrageous assault on a girl of fourteen years, was yesterday found by the police suspended from a telegraph wire in Fulton street, near Troy avenue.

During this period and the next five years in New York, McPhee received considerable recognition for such works as his "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra," "Concerto for Piano and Wind Octet," "Sea Shanty Suite," and orchestral scores for two experimental films by Ralph Steiner, H20 and Mechanical Principles.
