 Guthrie County Historical Village, Museum, Panora, Iowa
The Guthrie County Historical Village, located on a beautiful 4-acre complex near the Middle Raccoon River and old Lenon Mill Park on the southwest side of Panora, Iowa, features ten buildings and numerous exhibits that explore the history of Guthrie County from 1850 to the early-20th Century.
The congregation still holds services at the Historical Village once a year, and for special occassions, such as weddings, the church is available for rental to the public (If you are interested in reserving the church for a special event or social gathering, please call the Village (641.755.2989) or send an email for more information.).

 Panora, Iowa - Guthrie County, History.
Finally losing the battle to retain that status in 1876, Panora became the location for the Guthrie County High School using the empty courthouse as the first school building while the new building was being constructed in 1876.
Another beautiful but bigger county school (referred to as the "new" high school in the photo) was constructed on Panora's town square in 1897 and welcomed many students until the county school closed its doors in 1931.
Panora is located in eastern Guthrie County along the old Panora Speedway (now Highway 44 and part of the Western Skies Scenic Byway) and the old Milwaukee Railway which is now the Raccoon River Valley Recreational Trail.

BRIGGS, RALPH O. Hawthorn; was born December 25, 1848, in Henry County, Illinois, living there until he reached the age of twenty-two years; moved to Montgomery County and located on the farm on which he now lives, in the spring of 1870, his farm being at the time all wild land.
Parker was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, September 2, 1834, and moved to Hancock County, Illinois, when thirteen years old; she was married to John M. Parker, her name being Witherow, April, 1852; they were the parents of six children, four living, one son and three daughters: Arthur W., Maggie, Minnie and Lelia.
Parker came from Hancock County, Illinois, to Montgomery County; she owns 160 acres of land, all under cultivation; two good springs on the farm; good house, stables, feed lots, etc., etc.; the house cost about $700, and is surrounded by a beautiful grove, and is one of the nicest homes in the neighborhood.
