Guy Hamilton is one of those British directors who really cut his teeth during the late forties and fifties and then went on to have big budget success and films in the sixties and seventies.
Guy was actually born in Paris in 1922 but left France at the outbreak of the WWII and joined the British Royal Navy.
He took a real interest in the young Guy Hamilton and he was to be ‘his cinematic father’ who was to get Hamilton his directorial debut in ‘The Ringer’; 1952.

PS judging by what is on display in these three Hamilton Bonds that I mentioned, it's painfully obvious to see how much influence Peter Hunt had on GOLDFINGER as second unit director/editor.
I've heard this about Hamilton, and everything seems to indicate that most of the good set pieces in GOLDFINGER (that relied on pace and editing and even tone) were down to Hunt.
BTW- Guy Hamilton started his career as an assistant director, so I would have imagined he'd taken a liking to Derek Cracknell, particularly as they worked so much together from BATTLE OF BRITAIN onwards- plus Cracknell I think even directed some aerial work on BATTLE OF BRITAIN, maybe even uncredited.

The Seahawk went with me through my last twelve years as an Army officer and I felt it is, without a doubt, one of the best rough use military watches existant.
They have a guy set up to answer questions about vintage Hamiltons, although he will tell you Hamilton was going under as an American company in the 70's and they don't have many records from the period.
While Hamiltons like yours and mine are not quite in the collectible category yet (according to some watch snobs)they are still very good watches for use.
