 Barry Railway Coach
The coach was built in 1895 by Ashbury Carriage and Wagon Co., of Manchester for the Barry Railway, in South Wales.
In 1923, The Barry Railway was absorbed into the Great Western Railway and 163 was re-numbered 6058, it was withdrawn on 24th November 1928 at Swindon.
A circa 1937 four wheeled steel underframe from an ex Southern Railway ‘Van C’ has been acquired from the Gwili Railway, this is a replacement for the LMS covered carriage truck underframe donated by the Army at Longtown.

Corris railway is a narrow gauge railway dating back to the 1850s when it was built to carry slate from the quarries of Corris Uchaf and Aberllefenni to the sea at Aberdyfi.

 Swansea Vale Railway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Built in 1815 as a tramroad, the route was expanded as a feeder railway for several Swansea mines, and by 1874 was carrying passengers between Swansea St Thomas station (now closed), Llansamlet, Glais, Pontardawe, Ystalyfera, Gwys, Ystradgynlais and Brynamman.
The railway was bought in 1876 by the Midland railway company in order to bypass rival railway companies and gain access to Swansea docks.
With the assistance of Swansea city council the Swansea Valley Railway Society, based in Pentrechwyth, was able to purchase the last remaining section of intact track between Upper Bank (close to Morfa stadium) and Six Pit (now renamed Nantyffin Road).

The railway also has plans to extend southwards, to a terminus near the Carmarthen bypass, which now severs the trackbed back to the main line.

On Wednesday 19 July 2006 a volunteer train guard on the Gwili Railway became trapped between two carriages as they were being coupled together during a shunting manoeuvre at Bronwydd Arms station.
The underlying causes were the practice of volunteers multi-tasking in safety-critical activities, and on this occasion without clear understanding of their limits, and the safety management organisation and its application at the railway.
The sole purpose of RAIB investigations is to prevent future accidents and incidents and improve railway safety.

Former GWR locomotives are hired by photographers, moved to the Gwili by road for a few days, so that scenes appropriate to bygone days can correctly be recreated and the once-familiar shapes of ‘Panniers’, ‘Prairies’ and even the nifty 14XX tanks have all visited the line in recent years.
There are exciting times ahead as plans are in place to extend the Gwili Railway to the outskirts of Carmarthen ­; to a new terminus at the old Abergwili Junction.

With so many magazines available on railways it may hardly seem pertinent to suggest that anyone should acquire any more, but there is a whole new world in the field of Railway Preservation Society Magazines.
The Spa Valley Railway in Sussex, the Churnet Valley Railway near Stoke and the Gwili Railway are all small railways but their magazines have some interesting design ideas and are very attractive.
With much of steam railway enthusiasts' attention focussed on the larger preservation schemes of the time, there was little to be read about the negotiations regarding the Embsay Station site.

The Gwili Railway, a section of privately owned railway line running through a classically picturesque Welsh Valley, was in desparate need of investement in order to continue with its programme of restoration of line milage and running stock.
The development of an image which would inspire both investors and passengers was crucial before any work could begin on the share prospectus, and the resulting logo captured perfectly the character of the organisation in its simplicity and nostalgic feel.
All house stationery, as well as the share prospectus, were multi-lingual documents with all text reproduced in English and Welsh.

In March 1978, the Gwili became the first standard-gauge preserved railway to operate in Wales when it re-opened a one-mile section of the Carmarthen-Newcastle Emlyn route from its base at Bronwydd Arms, three miles north of Carmarthen.
Since then, the Gwili has steadily expanded into the idyllic surroundings of a wooded valley where its previous terminus was a former quarrymen's halt on the banks of the River Gwili.
The Gwili has a large collection of locomotives and rolling stock, and there are too many to list here (though perhaps it will be included in a later update) but two items are worthy of special mention.

D2178 is based a Gwili Railway in scenic South West Wales.
The staff at the railway were very pleasant, especially the jolly driver that seemed personally disappointed if you didn’t ask to ‘cab’ the 03!

It was placed in a convenient siding beside the railway while the men tested, certified and maintained all the weighing machines at the station and station yards.
They could often be found in the ‘Railway Arms’ or other tavern beside each station.
This vehicle is one of two similar vehicles that survived to preservation, the other being at the Gwili Railway, number 2135, also built in 1919.

On your return to Pant, visit the workshops where old steam locomotives are repaired - follow the new footpath to a picnic site which has an amazing panoramic view of the valley.
The trip down memory lane starts at Bronwydd Arms Station, and the steam train follows the route, originally taken by the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth line to the new terminus at Danycoed.
If the weather is fine, you can relax alongside the weir and enjoy a picnic, or walk the quarry workings above the station, whilst others might like to take a free ride on the miniature railway.

 The Railways of Colonel Stephens
The Colonel Stephens Society held a successful AGM at Bronwydd Arms station, Gwili Railway on Saturday 22nd April.
The meeting was followed by a tasty lunch, a trip on the Gwili Railway (members having the opportunity to ride in a restored Taff Vale Railway 4-wheel carriage, a GWR Toad or the cab of an O3 class 0-6-0 diesel engine), and a visit to the Gwili's workshops.
After that members had a fascinating tour (by vintage coach) of the remains of the nearby Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway led by its chairman Stuart Thomas, from whom they learned of the ambitious plans to revive the line as a heritage and community railway.
