Meini Gwyr, is an embanked stone circle, around 4000 years old, 60 feet in diameter, and consisting of 17 stones, ranging in height from 3 to 6 feet, of which only two remain today.
The stone circle is the centrepiece, of the Meini Gwyr Complex, which consists of Burial Mounds, and Cairns of various forms.
It is suggested that the name of the site, Meini, (Large Stone) and Gwyr, (Crooked) refers to the varying size, shape and angles of the stones, which were set in the circle.

Topographical and geophysical surveys carried out in August 2002 at three monuments in the Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire are reported: Bedd Arthur, Gors Fawr and Meini Gwyr.
Previously unrecorded features were revealed at all three sites, most spectacularly at Meini Gwyr which, from the evidence of geophysical survey, appears to be a multi-phase monument that includes a double pit-circle, hengi-form monument and embanked enclosure with an internal stone circle.
It is concluded that while the stone circles and oval setting fit comfortably within a distribution pattern that extends across most of the British Isles, the later phases of Meini Gwyr at least belong to a more localized tradition of monument building focused on the Irish Sea region.

New Glarus Firm Helps Replace Rare Sword Lost In Fire

A man who lost everything but his life in the recent fires in California is going to get a replica of one prized possession, thanks to the generosity of a group of artists and business people from Wisconsin and California.
Julien Gwyr, of Lakeside, Calif., owned a re-creation of a sword from the 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Conan the Barbarian." The sword was valued at about $3,000 and most likely would not have been covered by Gwyr's homeowners insurance.
"In light of the tragic loss of the Gwyr family's entire home, this seems very insignificant," said Amy Waddell, president and CEO of Albion/Film Swords.
