 Mike Bearzi has passed away in Tibet
Bruce Miller and Namgyal Sherpa left Kathmandu on 9th of April, 2002 to climb the reclusive and untouched NE Face, the secret Face of Gyachung Kang.
Gyachung Kang is believed to be at least 7952 meters (26,085 feet) in height, and is regarded as the 15th highest peak in the world, the highest 7,000 meter peak.
Their side mission was to resolve the mystery of the height of Gyachung Kang for which they carried a precision lightweight handheld GPS unit with them for the summit.

 Veteran alpinist Mike Bearzi dies in Tibet
Veteran Himalayan climber Mike Bearzi, 49, of Boulder, Colorado, was killed May 12 while attempting to climb the Northeast Face of Nepal's Gyachung Kang, according to Explore Himalaya, the local agency that handled the expedition.
Bearzi and climbing partner Bruce Miller were in Tibet to make the first attempt at climbing the remote, northeast face of Gyachung Kang.
Mountains hitting the 8,000-meter mark are especially coveted by climbers, and there has been speculation that Gyachung Kang might be a "lost" 8,000-meter peak.

The 7 member Kang Guru Expedition 2005 team was permitted to climb 6981 meter high Mt. Kang Guru from Normal Route during the Autumn Season of 2005.
