Gymnastics is a unique sport that combines more than a dozen individual events and pieces of “apparatus.” It’s also one of the only sports that let athletes compete as individuals AND as part of a team.
When a gymnast is performing, it’s a time to shine as an individual; to do his or her best to earn top marks on the vault, the rings, the high bar, and so on.
Gymnasts grip both rings and hang in the air, performing flips and maneuvers such as the cross, where the athlete hangs with arms out to the sides.

As a former gymnast of fourteen years and an avid fan of the sport, I must say that this is the worst book on gymnastics I have ever read in my life.
The book includes a history of the sport, its first superstars, the gymnastics events, judging and scoring, a day in the life of a gymnast, superstars of the 1990s, a chapter about the dangers of the sport, (more on that later) a timeline of important gymnastics dates, and trivia and facts.
I felt it was unfair to the sport of gymnastics that the author had to devote a whole chapter to the eating disorders and life- threatening injuries of the sport, which made it seem like it happens to everyone in gymnastics.

 Rythmic gymnastics | Rhythmic gymnastics
Although not as old as artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics is a beautiful sport requiring amazing control and grace under pressure.
Rythmic gymnastics is also a sport ideal for girls who find they are too tall or lack the explosive power required in artistic gymnastics, in fact, taller girls are better proportioned to accentuate the rhythmic flow of rhythmic gymnastics while concealing how difficult it really is.
It is probablly true to say that rhythmic gymnastics still doesn't get the kind of recognition it deserves, perhaps that's because it is still not very well understood by the parents and of gymnasts and the many spectators the world over, this brief article will shed a little light on getting started in rhythmic gymnastics.
