Gyrobifastigium - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In geometry, the gyrobifastigium is the 26th Johnson solid (J
The gyrobifastigium can be considered a digonal gyrobicupola.
The 92 Johnson solids were named and described by Norman Johnson in 1966.

The edges of a cuboctahedron form four regular hexagons.
If the cuboctahedron is cut in the plane of one of these hexagons, each half is a triangular cupola, one of the Johnson solids; the cuboctahedron itself thus can also be called a triangular gyrobicupola, the simplest of a series (other than the gyrobifastigium or "digonal gyrobicupola").
If the halves are put back together with a twist, so that triangles meet triangles and squares meet squares, the result is another Johnson solid, the triangular orthobicupola.

One final twist: Two triangular prisms can be glued together along a common square face to form a "gyrobifastigium," a solid bounded by four equilateral triangles and four squares, one of the 92 nonuniform convex polyhedra with regular faces.
So by fusing pairs of prisms in the last tiling, we can create a monohedral tiling by gyrobifastigia.
I note that DH made a subtle little pun here: the gyro-thingy can be made from a 60^-diamond-ended prism, slicing along the square diagonal, *twisting* it through 90^ and re-glueing.
