  H Alpha
H alpha: The first atomic transition in the hydrogen Balmer series; wavelength = 656.3 nm.
This absorption line of neutral hydrogen falls in the red part of the visible spectrum and is convenient for solar observations.
The H alpha line is universally used for patrol observations of solar flares, filaments, prominence s, and the fine structure of active regions.

Matlab code for scaling parameter estimation, including LRD, H-ss, Multifractals...
Alpha is the dimensionless scaling exponent, and is the most important parameter describing the qualitative nature of the scaling.
The LRD confidence interval is a function of both alpha and cf, and both are calculated for the block in question, provided alpha is in the range (0,1) of LRD: otherwise the LRD CI's don't apply and are set equal to the IID ones.
For convenience, alpha is transformed into values of related parameters, such as the Hurst parameter H, or the fractal dimension of the sample path (valid only if Gaussian) D. It is up to the user to determine which kind of scaling is present, and therefore which parameter is appropriate.

This is because the hemoglobin H shortens the lifespan of the red blood cells.
Because there is not enough “alpha” globin, the body cannot put enough “alpha” and “beta” globins together to make normal amounts of hemoglobin A. As a result, the regular hemoglobin A levels are lower than normal.
The prognosis of a child with hemoglobin H Disease depends on the severity of the anemia.

Imaging through narrow band hydrogen alpha filters can bring remarkable enhancement to objects with singular or dominant emission in the hydrogen-alpha line.
Many imagers are content with monochrome display of these images but some may desire to go further and create a color image using the hydrogen alpha data.
There are several creative solutions which can help the imager to incorporate H-alpha data successfully to create an aesthetically pleasing hydrogen alpha color composite.

Department H’s General Clarke claimed that the terrorists had used chemical weapons to wipe out the population of Port Radium, although the truth of this was never verified.
Scorpio later visited a mystery man within Department H, who offered to make more use of them in the future, but Scorpio felt his team had been used, as losing one of their own was never part of the plan.

Coronado Instruments : H alpha filters for the Solar Observer
In both the Helios-1 and ASP-60, from the outset we found the prominences around the solar disk to be highly visible, due also to moderate activity in the region.
The diverse behaviour of the two instruments derives, as we have already said, from the different optical design: the positioning of the etalon in front of the objective lens guarantees an actual band-width virtually equivalent to the nominal value.
Below: The Helios-1 solar refractor telescope: with the two extension tubes (2" and 1.25") it is possible to obtain initial approximate focussing; precision focussing is achieved with the helicoidal focusser.

The Sun: A Pictorial Introduction - Slide 6
This image is taken through a filter centered on a spectral line of Hydrogen (, wavelength λ = 6563 Å) that forms above the surface of the Sun, although large sunspots are still visible.
Moreover, in most cases the location of bright regions on the disk coincides with the location of sunspots and active regions.
Their distinctive appearances are a geometrical effect: seen against the bright solar disk, dense cool gas absorbs and scatters sunlight away from the line of sight, and so looks dark; seen above the solar limb against the dark sky, dense cool gas scatters sunlight into the line of sight, and appears bright.

Sunspot: Ca K and H Alpha Images Explained
The H alpha line is a strong spectral line associated with neutral hydrogen, which constitutes about 75 percent (by weight) of the outer layers of the Sun.
It has a wavelength of 656.3 nm (in the red part of the spectrum) and absorbs about 80 percent of the light at its central wavelength, showing layers of the Sun up to 1700 km above the visible surface.
