H engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An H engine (or H-block) is an engine configuration in which the cylinders are aligned so that if viewed from the front appear to be in a horizontal letter H.
An H engine can be viewed as two flat engines, one atop the other.
Subaru produces water-cooled flat-4 and flat-6 "Horizontal" engines that are marketed as H-4 and H-6, despite the fact that their configuration has nothing to do with a real H engine.

Engine configuration - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Engine configuration is an engineering term for the layout of the major components of an internal combustion engine.
For example, the cylinder banks of a 180° V engine do not in any way form a V, but it is regarded as a V engine because of its crankshaft and big end configuration, which result in performance characteristics similar to a V engine.
On the other hand, some V-twin engines which have none of the typical V engine crankshaft design features and consequent performance characteristics are also regarded as V engines, purely because of their shape.

 H-1 Engine
During engine shutdown, the control pressure decays, and the fuel and oxidizer poppets are closed by spring pressure.
The main fuel valve is a butterfly-type with a balanced gate 4.25 inches in diameter and is nearly identical to the main LOX valve except for the difference in the closing control and the absence of the heater assembly and the cam for igniter fuel valve actuation.
Engine shutdown is achieved by an electrical cutoff signal which fires a pyrotechnic-actuated valve to close the main LOX valve, cutting off LOX flow to the thrust chamber and gas generator.

Gasoline FAQ - Part 4 of 4   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-07)
Engine load is not a primary factor in valve seat wear for moderate operating conditions, and low to medium speed engines under moderate loads do not suffer rapid recession, as has been demonstrated on fuels such as CNG and LPG.
No matter how clever the engine, the engine power output limit is determined by the fuel it is designed to use, not the amount of oxygen stuffed into the cylinder and compressed.
Modern engines designs and gasolines are intended to reduce the emission of undesirable exhaust pollutants, consequently engine performance is mainly constrained by the fuel available.

This contest is designed to give 4-H members participating in the 4-H Petroleum Power program an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of small engine operation, care, maintenance, and safety, and to compete with other 4-Hers in so doing.
Each engine will be faulted so that the three separate items will prevent its starting or running properly.
The small engines used in this event may be either new or used.

The Aircraft Engine Historical Society is a non-profit educational and historical society, open to the public, which fosters an appreciation of the people, art, and science associated with aircraft engine development, manufacture, and use.
All that is required is the mark and serial number of the engine, be it airworthy, on display, in a museum aircraft or in private ownership.
All marks are eligible for engines made in the UK, USA and Australia, the exception being the Mustang Packard V-1650s, which are too numerous (but we would like to include those built by Continental).

 H-D Evo engine rebuild program
You begin the re-birthing process by riding (or trailering) your Evo-powered scoot down to your local Harley dealer, where the motor is removed and shipped to its place of birth, the Capital Drive plant where Evos have been manufactured since 1984.
Magic is worked, the engine is fully reconditioned and returned to your dealer for re-installation.
All this is done in a state-of-the-art engine facility by some of the same folks who built it the first time.

The 350 H.O. Deluxe engine that we tested came from GM Performance Parts complete with a 600-cfm Holley carb, dual-plane intake, HEI distributor, spark plugs, wires, even a water pump.
Listed in the GM Performance Parts catalog is a relatively obscure hydraulic roller cam package originally designed for off-road LT4 fuel-injected engines that offers a mild intake lobe using stock roller lifters tag-teamed with a set of GM Performance Parts 1.6:1 aluminum roller rockers.
We've had previous experience with this cam and decided it was a perfect match for the 350 H.O. engine package and the Vortec heads.

These lectures have been rewritten and considerably extended, and have been given a form which is more appropriate to this method of presentation of the subject.
The artistic and curious little sketches at the end of each chapter are from John Stuart, as are, usually, the drawings of the older forms of engines.
The author is almost daily in receipt of inquiries which indicate that the above remarks will be of service to very many young engineers, as well as to many to whom the steam-engine is of interest from a more purely scientific point of view.

He said the components Harley was most concerned about were the transmission to engine interface and the lubrication system on the Twin Cam engine—parts that The Motor Company had spent numerous research and development hours on.
Previous engines developed by Harley-Davidson always had a certain amount of interchangeability with past designs.
So many new and innovative parts were created, a company spokesman at the introduction said he could hold in one hand the number of parts that were interchangeable with parts from previous big twins.
