Lowe pitched the idea of HGTV to his bosses in 1992 -- an idea formed in part by the frustrations he met in home renovation as his career took him from city to city around the country.
When HGTV management-team members hopped on a plane in the spring of 1994 and headed for Knoxville, Tenn., it was a career move many of them -- living in New York, Los Angeles or Chicago -- had not envisioned.
HGTV and the other networks plan to expand their relationship with the nationally televised home-shopping channel.
