  HMAS CONDAMINE - HMA Ship Histories (Sea Power Centre - Australia)
CONDAMINE began operational duty in the Korean War in the Haeju area on the Korean west coast as a unit of Task Unit 95.12.4 on 4 August 1952.
CONDAMINE was relieved on 16 August by HMS ST BRIDES BAY and after a typhoon delayed passage the frigate reached Sasebo on 19 August.
CONDAMINE’s next assignment was on the east coast theatre and she was the first Australian frigate to operate in that area.

 Chapter 27: HMAS CONDAMINE
On 4th August 1952, CONDAMINE took her war station off the Haeju Peninsula on the west coast of Korea, as a unit of the task force.
CONDAMINE had some satisfaction at a later stage, when on the 10th September we bombarded Tanchon and demolished six buildings which had previously been untouched.
CONDAMINE relieved ST BRIDES BAY once again and with units of the South Korean Navy, we spent a couple of weeks guarding offshore islands, anchoring at night between the islands and the mainland, to ensure the security of the islands.

 War At Sea: The Royal Australian Navy In Korea
On 1 July 1950, Australian frigates HMAS Shoalhaven and the destroyer HMAS Bataan joined a fleet enforcing the UN blockade.
HMAS Murchison played an important role in a naval blockade of the Han River from July to September 1952, Operation Han.
For the last two years of the war, RAN ships in Korean waters continued to protect the islands off the west coast of North Korea that were in South Korean possession.

Later in the month HMA Ships Sydney and Tobruk took part in attacks off the east coast, returning to the west coast in December.
HMAS Sydney returned to Australia in February 1952 and HMA Ships Bataan and Warramunga (not ANZAC as some official history records show- Thanks to Tom Hamilton a Warramunga Korean Veteran) returned to Korea to continue coastal blockades and shore bombardments until the wars end.
HMA Ships Sydney, Tobruk, Arunta, Condamine, Shoalhaven and Murchison all did post war duty for varying periods until November 1955.

 Defence Models and Graphics - HMAS CONDAMINE
DMG was requested to construct two models, one of the Modified River Class Frigate, HMAS CONDAMINE (K698), the other the Bathurst Class Corvette, HMAS BENDIGO (J187).
It was decided to construct CONDAMINE in the scale of 1:72 and take advantage of the hull and fittings already available through APS Models.
The hull was constructed of fibre-glass whilst the superstructure was built of Evergreen Styrene with timber, metal and cast resin fittings.

The ANC contingent (stand fast 3 cadets from CONDAMINE) is marching behind the RAN and RANR Uniformed Contingent and in front of the non uniformed contingents.
I missed out on the HMAS YARRA commissioning because I was in the car on my way to a friend's place on the Central Coast and he wouldn't let me out of the car..dammit...

 ADASTRA AERIAL SURVEYS - Bruce Sellick
He spent six months at the Flinders Naval Depot in Victoria and was then posted to HMAS "Condamine", an Australian Navy frigate, training between Perth, Darwin, Brisbane and Melbourne, where he completed the Abbreviated Mid-shipman's Course.
On completion of this training he flew Mark 4 Fireflies as part of the 22nd Carrier Air Group in HMAS Sydney.
In 1952 he was therefore still in the Navy and sent to the Korean War as a Watchkeeping Officer on the HMAS "Warramunga" - a tribal class destroyer.

Although it was allotted for service in Korea, it sailed to Iwakuni, Japan, to return the RAAF No 77 Fighter Squadron to Australia after that squadron had departed from Korea.
