  HMAS Stalwart - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
HMAS Stalwart paid off to reserve on 1 December 1925 and was sold for scrap on 4 June 1937.
The second HMAS Stalwart was a destroyer tender laid down by the Cockatoo Docks and Engineering Company Limited at Sydney in New South Wales on 23 June 1964, launched on 7 October 1966 by Lady Casey, wife of the Governor General, and commissioned on 9 February 1968.
HMAS Stalwart paid off on 9 March 1990 and was sold in May 1990 to Marlines S.A., a Greek shipping company, that renamed it MV Her Majesty M intending to convert it to a passenger ferry.

Notable Stalwarts were Roscoe Conkling, Thomas C. Platt, and Chester A. Arthur, all of whom were in favor of Ulysses S. Grant running for a third term.
Chester A. Arthur, a Stalwart, was the vice president for James A. Garfield.

 Australian Antarctic Division - HMAS Stalwart 1985
HMAS Stalwart was the largest naval vessel wholly designed and built in Australia.
The ship was chartered for one voyage to undertake the Macquarie Island resupply in December 1985 due to the unavailability of the Nella Dan, which had been beset for six weeks further south in the pack ice.
HMAS Stalwart normally provided maintenance and repair facilities to other naval vessels on a mobile basis so that destroyers could spend maximum times on duty in between major dockyard refits.

Avalon Airshow 2003.On board HMAS Kanimbla with N16-100 and took part in the Boxing day 2004 Tsunami relief effort.Crew of this aircraft observed smoke rising from the crash of N16-100 on Nias Island, Indonesia and flew to the scene where the two survivors were evacuated back to HMAS Kanimbla.

 HMAS Swan
HMAS SWAN was laid down at HMA Naval Dockyard, Williamstown, Victoria, on 18 August 1965, and was the last River Class Destroyer Escort (DE) to be constructed in that dockyard.
HMAS SWAN was commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy on Tuesday, 20 January 1970, when her Commissioning Order was read by her first Commanding Officer, Commander DW Falconer, RAN.
HMA ships DERWENT and SWAN also participated in the event, which marked significant changes in Britain’s defence role in South East Asia, and ended the role of the previous naval command which had existed for 150 years.

HMAS Melbourne was dispatched to San Diego, California to collect sixteen surplus USN S-2Gs and brought them back as deck cargo, dropping off another S-2G,an F-4 and a CH-46 at Pearl Harbour on the way home as a favour to the USN.

HMAS DERWENT was the first of the class to be equipped with the Seacat anti-aircraft missile system.
That was to trial the RBS70 surface-to-air missile system before it was fitted to the fleet oiler HMAS WESTRALIA for her deployment to the Persian Gulf during the Gulf War and the subsequent naval activity in support of United Nations trade sanctions imposed on Iraq.
HMAS STUART was decommissioned on 26 July 1991 at HMS Stirling.

Some former crewmembers of HMAS Melbourne have instituted legal proceedings against the Commonwealth claiming damages for injuries relating to the collision with HMAS Voyager on 10 February 1964.
Twenty-five claims for damages for injuries allegedly arising out of an incident aboard HMAS Stalwart that occurred on 22 October 1985 have been settled.
It is possible that former crew of HMAS Stalwart and the dependants of deceased members of the crew will make further claims.

The aircraft was performing plane guard duties from the HMAS Melbourne on Exercise "Highwood" in the Irish Sea with Lt(P)Phil Pinniger RAN.The carrier was in the process of launching A4 skyhawks at the time.
The aircraft was then cut in half by the destroyer HMAS Brisbane that had steamed in to position to pick the aircrew up.
Recovered by HMAS Stalwart, Bomb Dump at Nowra 1997.Destroyed at RANAS Nowra fireground.

Stripped of armament and turbine engines etc., and together with ex HMAS PARRAMATTA were handed to NSW government in 1930 as accommodation ships to be moored in Hawkesbury river for convicts building a road in Ku-ring-gai Chase.
The Parramatta went into the mangroves and ultimately part of her hull was placed in a memorial in the City of Parramatta but the whereabouts of the SWAN was unknown till January 1994 when Greig Berry confirmed that he had located it.

I could still do “on-line crypto”, in fact HMAS MORESBY was one of the first to be fitted, but where as the RAAF had fixed aerials, we had to tune in H/F receivers, in all weather, and subject to heavy interference, but I had never forgotten how to do it.

Grant Ian Ferguson, the eldest son of a retired Chief Petty Officer, was appointed to the Royal Australian Naval College as a Senior Entry Cadet Midshipman in 1976.
In August 1990, Lieutenant Commander Ferguson was selected to perform the duties of Assistant Secretary to the Chief of Naval Staff, a position he occupied until early 1992.
Captain Ferguson assumed command of HMAS ALBATROSS on 4 February 2005.

The Westland Wessex is essentially a licence-built Sikorsky S-58 fitted with one (or two) turboshaft engines in place of the original piston power plant, and converted to anti-submarine, utility and assault variants.
The Wessex’s underwent a revival in 1984 when they replaced the Navy's Grumman Trackers, often operating from ships such as HMAS Stalwart and HMAS Tobruk, as well as from Nowra.
Another of my end of project-on to the next, stash perusals yielded this old gem, purchased for the princely sum of $4 from a fellow club member, who was happy to pass it on to me as he knew I would build it!
