HMAS Vampire (D68/I68) was a V-class destroyer of the British and Royal Australian navies.
Vampire departed for Australia on 17 October 1933 and arrived in Sydney on 21 December 1933, paid off into reserve on 31 January 1934 but re-commissioned on 14 July 1936, paid off into reserve on 18 July 1936.
Vampire was hit by a bomb which broke her in half and she sank at 11:05 with the loss of nine of her crew.

Dabei kam es zur wesentlich kleineren aber ebenfalls bedeutenden Schlacht in der Sundastraße, bei der nach anfänglichem zähen Widerstand sowohl die USS Houston als auch die HMAS Perth schließlich durch die beiden japanischen Kreuzer mit ihren begleitenden Zerstörern durch Torpedos und Geschützfeuer versenkt wurden, woraufhin die ABDA-Flotte effektiv aufhörte zu existieren.
Dieser von Anbeginn eher improvisierte und stets an der zu geringen Zahl von Einsatzkräften leidende alliierte Flottenverband konnte den japanischen Vormarsch in Südostasien letztendlich nur verzögern.
