She was later transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy as HMCS Columbia (I-49), as a Town class destroyer.
Columbia, and the other escorts fought valiantly, but nine merchantmen from the convoy were sunk before reaching England.
Columbia was not fully repaired after the accident but made watertight and used as a fuel and ammunition hulk in Nova Scotia until her return to the War Assets Administration for disposal in August 1945 when she was sold for scrapping.

The new HMS Hamilton was damaged in a collision with the new HMS Georgetown and subsequently transferred from the RN to the RCN, becoming the HMCS Hamilton.
The RN ships were given town names common to both Britain and the United States, as was the HMCS Annapolis.
Intercepted and boarded in part by HMCS Niagara and HMS Burwell assisting trawlers HMS Northern Chief, HMS Kingston Agathe, HMS Wastwater and HMS Windermere.

HMCS HAMILTON, shown here, suffered several collisions and a grounding, and never actually crossed the Atlantic during the Second World War.
She was allocated to HMCS Cornwallis as a training ship in 1943.
Before being sunk, she was probably the most successful TOWN class ship in the RCN.

Yes, H.M.C.S. BUXTON H96, was commissioned as H.M.S. (ex-U.S.S. EDWARDS)in September, 1940.
