HMCS KELOWNA was a Bangor class minesweeper in the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) during WWII.

HMCS Kelowna and the other ships of the RCN maintained their patrols against this danger throughout the war.

Today, the powers-that-be tell us that the only way to defeat the horrors of terrorism is to wage a war of unknown duration and geographic scope that has already killed hundreds of civilians and pushed millions to the brink of starvation.
The HMCS Vancouver and other Canadian forces have been dispatched to fight a war which Richmond MP Joe Peschisolido tells us is in the "the great tradition of the Canadian armed forces that have fought so valiantly in the past for freedom and justice."
One could start with the fact that the HMCS Vancouver's sister ship, the HMCS Calgary, recently returned from a tour in the Persian Gulf, where it was helping to enforce sanctions against the people of Iraq that UNICEF estimates have killed more than one million civilians.
