I know that when I was a staff cadet at HMCS Québec, during the staff ball, everyone tried to look as "hot" as possible.
This summer, the coxswain of HMCS Québec, CWO Richard Boisclair, CMM, CD, did add rules to the dress for the staff ball and mess dinner.
A number of my NCOs were Staff at NCSM Quebec this past summer and were REQUIRED to wear a collar shirt with bow tie for their dinner.

H.M.C.S. Georgian [Bangor Class Minesweeper], Wartime Pendant No. J-144, was built in Toronto by Dufferin Shipbuilding Company, Launched on 28 January 1941 and Commissioned, in Toronto, on 23 September 1941.
HMCS Matane was a River Class Frigate (K444) and had sunk U-311 on 22 April 1944 in mid-Atlantic.

Commander Mountford completed the Operations Room Officer and Anti-Air Warfare Controller courses in 1993 and was appointed to HMCS TERRA NOVA as Combat Officer and participated in Operation Forward Action, the United Nations Embargo against Haiti.
Returning to sea and to Halifax in 2000 as Combat Officer of HMCS ATHABASKAN Commander Mountford participated in the operation to retrieve military vehicles and equipment form the GTS KATIE.
In 2001 Commander Mountford was posted ashore to the Canadian forces Maritime Warfare Centre in Halifax, serving as the Anti Submarine Warfare Training Officer until his appointment as Executive Officer of HMCS IROQUOIS from 2002-2004 during its deployment to the Arabian Gulf as Flag Ship for Operation APOLLO.

The master, Captain Albert Victor Parkinson Turnbull, crew of 45, 10 gunners and army personnel were rescued by HMCS corvette SHEDIAC and British ship EMPIRE FLAMINGO and landed at Gibraltar.
The survivors, Chief Officer J.B. Tunbridge, 17 crew and 1 DBS were rescued by the Corvette, HMCS corvette DRUMHELLER and landed in Londonderry.
The Master, Captain William Henry Stein, 40 crew, 6 gunners and 3 DBS were rescued by HMCS corvette ARVIDA and landed at Greenock.

In June 2005, a confiscation order of more than GBP 10 million was made against him and in November 2006 this sum was received by Her Majesty’s Court Service (HMCS).
The extent of benefit from crime and the identifying of assets realised in the confiscation order against Cushnie were traced by SFO investigators with the help of the London Regional Asset Recovery Team.

After graduating, I went on to do several jobs, including a time in the RCAF in Centralia, Ontario in 1966.

Born in Québec city, Marc Garneau served from 1974 to 1983 as combat systems engineer on the HMCS Algonquin, instructor in naval weapon systems at the Canadian Forces Fleet School in Halifax and project engineer in naval weapon systems in Ottawa.
He was also one of the original airmail pilots, carrying the first overseas mail from Rimouski to Ottawa, October 27, 1927.
Two trophies were created in his honour: the «Pilote de brousse» Trophy (awarded to a student of the CQFA), and the «Plein Vol» Trophy (renamed in 2006 «Pierre Rivest Trophy»), awarded by the AQTA to a flight school to recognize its program quality.
