One spring night in 1992, Leading Seaman Jason Eldridge was finishing some paperwork in the HMCS Discovery office when he heard the sound of footsteps moving at an urgent pace down a nearby staircase.
Though his skepticism towards the supernatural waned in that moment, he reassured himself that even if a restless spirit was wandering the building, it wasn't malignant or violent, according to the stories he'd heard.

The emphasis on stability in HMCS Winnipeg does mean that there are gaps in other places and that you have a bit of a rotation in some of the other non-overseas-deployable hulks.

The majority of the Station personnel were transported on the navy vessel HMCS Sans Peur, and the remainder arrived by coastal steamer.
The arrival of the auxiliary cruiser HMCS Prince Henry, on the 30th of July 1941, provided the Squadron officers with an opportunity to add a little variey to the training schedule.

I re-watched Restless just the other day and it always amazes me how many new references I pick up on that are scripted into seasons after it aired.
I hadn't thought of Restless in the way he described it, probably because I don't have season 4 DVDs yet.
And there are always a few who hate Restless (though I don't think I've met anyone who disliked OMWF, despite its standing on the jump the shark website).

On 20 September 1943, while escorting convoy ON.202, south of Iceland, HMCS ST. CROIX was torpedoed and sunk by U-305.
Five officers and seventy-six men were rescued by HMS ITCHEN, however, only two days later, the ITCHEN was also torpedoed by an enemy submarine.

A year ago last July, the Canadian destroyer, HMCS Yukon, was sunk after being cleaned and prep'd for diving (http://www.hmcs-yukon.org).
The hull was "swiss-cheesed" with many large cutouts into most of the 6 decks to make it easier for divers to penetrate.
Getting restless, we moved on and quickly stumbled onto one seal hanging out in a deep crevice.

Restless, unable to sleep, I slipped out of my hotel room and went into the slumbering city in search of Scarlett Johanson.
Randy and I were having lunch at Cardero's at Coal Harbour last week when suddenly a Canadian Forces Sea King helicopter appeared out of nowhere over Stanley Park and roared into a landing at HMCS Discovery, the reserve naval training base on Deadman's Island next to Stanley Park.
It stayed there for about 10 minutes, engine going, and then just as suddenly took off, which is when Randy shot this pic.

Chris Saunders while being transferred to hospital in Ireland from the incapacitated HMCS Chicoutimi, this story goes beyond a bad investment to a human tragedy.
That gloom deepened yesterday with news that one of the sailors airlifted along with Saunders had been moved to the intensive-care unit of an Irish hospital.

A personal source in HMCS indicated that several of the UK delays were industrial actions by UK pilots & their unions.
Having formerly had 450 unionized UK employees under my management and dealing first hand with the mechanisms their union put them up to, it would not be a surprising for this to have been part of the cause.
I was restless at first because you got to stay in bed till nearly 6 a.m., but am getting so I like to sleep late.
