		The submarine lease program has been plagued by problems from the beginning: Flooding, hairline cracks in the diesel hull exhaust valves of two of the subs, a dent in the hull of another that limited its dives 75 per cent of maximum depth, and now a tragic fire.
		Chris Saunders while being transferred to hospital in Ireland from the incapacitated HMCS Chicoutimi, this story goes beyond a bad investment to a human tragedy.
		That gloom deepened yesterday with news that one of the sailors airlifted along with Saunders had been moved to the intensive-care unit of an Irish hospital.

		Having formerly had 450 unionized UK employees under my management and dealing first hand with the mechanisms their union put them up to, it would not be a surprising for this to have been part of the cause.
