The new location placed the museum in Harris Street, adjacent to the Sydney Technical College, and as such it was intended to provide material inspiration to the working men being trained there.
As time passed it also established branches in some of New South Wales' main industrial and mining centres, including Broken Hill, Albury, Newcastle and Maitland.
It also quickly outgrew the main Harris Street site and by 1978 the situation had become dire, with many exhibits literally stuffed into its attic, and left unexhibited for decades.

Henry was the third child of George and Elizabeth (late Parsons formerly Childs), and was born in Fareham on December 17, 1847.
Soon thereafter, with Henry still in the Royal Navy, the family moved to the Southampton area, where their next two children were born, Harry George Richard in 1879, and Percy Douglas in 1881.
The 1881 Census showed the family's address to be Firgrove Road, Millbrook, and Henry was Leading Seaman aboard the ship HMS Trincomalee, which had been homed at Southampton and used as a training ship.

After the M-1 was launched various problems with the seals around the gun caused so many delays in getting her into service that the war was over before she could fire a shot in anger and M-2 and M3 were not completed until 1920.
The official description of how the wreck was found was that HMS Torrid, a destroyer equipped with powerful listening apparatus (Asdic), found the contact, and minesweepers confirmed the finding HMS Pangborne and HMS Dunnon with sweep wires.
A wreck buoy was three miles from the point where Captain Howard of the Tynensider had reported seeing the M-2 dive, and not far from the position spotlighted by the report from Captain Hunt of the Crown of Denmark.

On 16th Jan 1909 STOKER was appointed to HMS ONYX at Devonport ‘for Command of Submarines’.
After being offered (and refusing) the command of HMS ROYAL ARTHUR (the seagoing Depot Ship of the Atlantic Submarine Flotilla) Stoker left the Navy on 2nd Oct 1920 at the age of 35 and took up a career in acting and was also a playwright.
He was next appointed to HMS EGMONT for submarines on 14th August 1911, for one of the three ‘B’ Class submarines which formed the Malta Flotilla at that time.

He (as he has said before) thought that if they kept only getting pictures of him in this shirt eventually the editors would get fed up and not bother trying to get pics of him any more, as no-one would believe that they were 'original' pics.
He said everyone would say "They're not different pics, look, he is wearing the same shirt!" (laughing of course) He said it is now his jacket that he wears all the time (the HMS Surprise vest).

The rugby union sides of three Commonwealth navies contested what can only be described as a battle royal during the 2003 Commonwealth Navies Rugby Cup in Auckland from May 9-18.

He served on HMS Liverpool in the Mediterranean and as Secretary to Captains Collins and Burnett on HMAS Sydney in the Indian Ocean.
He was transferred off the latter shortly before she sailed on her final ill-fated voyage.

Subject: Re: Armoured conning towers (correction) In doing further research on Craig's question concerning armored conning towers, I've found that the HMS Royal Sovereign was given a conning tower when it was converted into a coast defense turret ship in 1862, lauched in 1857, and finally completed in 1864.
The HMS Prince Albert (lauched in 1864 and completed in 1866) was another candidate as that she was designed first but construction was delayed.

He served in HMS Achilles as Midshipman during the Egyptian War of 1882; later in the Hydrographic Dept. at the Admiralty.
Later he lived at Albury NSW where he met his future wife; in 1918 having by then moved to Croydon Park, Sydney, he set up Hallowes Cordials, the family business.

The latter was originally commissioned as a Minotaur Class Ironclad, HMS Agincourt, in 1865, renamed HMS Boscawen III in 1904 and as HMS Ganges in 1906.
Our research places this photo as being Harwich, England and dates it as between 1910, when C-38 was launched and early January 1915, when C-31 was lost.
