1881 Jul 14, Outlaw Billy the Kid (21), (born as Henry McCarty) aka William H. Bonney or Kid Antrim, was shot and killed by Sheriff Pat Garrett in Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
Billy had been held in Lincoln County Courthouse jail but escaped and killed two guards.
