HMS Apollo (F70) was a Leander-class frigate of the Royal Navy (RN).
Apollo was intended to be modernised, which would of included the removal of her one 4.5-in twin gun, which would of been replaced by the Exocet anti-ship missile, but the modernisation was cancelled due to the 1981 Defence Review by the minister John Nott.
In 1988, Apollo's Royal Navy career came to an end when she was decommissioned and subsequently sold to Pakistan, being renamed Zulfiquar and remains in service with the Pakistani Navy as of 2004.

The Broadbeamed Group of Leander frigates HMS Andromeda, Hermione, Jupiter, Scylla, Charybdis, Achilles, Ariadne, Diomede and HMS Apollo were designed with a view for increasing their life span for future modifications an extra 2 feet were added to the beam which increased stability and endurance with a slight reduction in speed.
It was planned that between 1977 and 1984 all the Broad beamed class Frigates would undergo modernisation, with HMS Andromeda being the first in 1977 and being completed in 1980.
