HMS Bacchante was a Cressy -class armoured cruiser launched in 1901 for the Royal Navy.
When the infantry came under fire from Turkish artillery at Gaba Tepe the Bacchante approached close in to shore and directly on the gun emplacements in an to silence them.
As most cases on the market are made forPalm and older versions of iPAQ which are bigger, cases for new slim 1900 series are rare finds.

Back in Britain the stories of Bligh’s plight with the HMS Bounty, and with the successes of Giolo and Omai, it was not uncommon for seafaring men to give up the sea to become tattoo exhibits at fairgrounds.
The boys did at a later date become tattooed, and its said that they were tattooed by Hori-Chyo of Yokohama Japan, on the third cruise of the HMS Bacchantes (which departed on the 14th of September 1880, returning to England on the 5th of August 1882).

HMS Cressy was ordered as part of the 1897/98 naval programme and were similar to the Diadem cruiser except it was more heavily armoured.
Built at Fairfield at Govan on the Clyde and laid down on the 12th October 1898, launched 4th December 1899 and completed 28th May 1901.

I was born in Ashton-under-Lyne, and lived in Cowhill-lane until I went to sea 23 years ago.
I was one of the crew of HMS "Bacchante" (difficult to read — Ed) and was in that vessel with the Princes when they went round the world.
I have enclosed you a cutting out of the paper of 20th May 1901, where I had an interview with the Duke while he was in Melbourne.

 Cressy Class Cruiser - HMS Cressy, Aboukir, Bacchante, Hogue, Sutlej, Euryalus
They reintroduced the 9.2 inch gun but were criticised for only carrying two of them.
The class were built to defend merchant shipping against raids by French cruisers and to operate with the battle fleet and were all sheathed for tropical service.
The class saw extensive service during the war and were considered successful despite the famous loss of three of them to the submarine U9.
