The ship to which I had been drafted was HMS "Charity" a member of the 8th Destroyer Flotilla, and fortunately for me she happened to be in Kure.
That same evening we were joined by the USS "Shelton,"a destroyer, and HMS "Crane" a frigate, and during the night we fired the occasional star shell to iIIuminate the sea to ensure that the Reds were not trying to get across the narrow strip of water to the island.
For this and similar subsequent incidents HMS "Charity" was admitted as a member of the US Navy's 'Train Buster's Club.' Also during this patrol we joined a large number of American destroyers in a large scale bombardment of the city of Wonsan.

Type 42 destroyer HMS Gloucester has returned to her home base of Portsmouth after a deployment to the South Atlantic.
The Fighting G, as she is known, thankfully battled nothing more demanding than charity projects and rough seas during her four-month winter stint in the inhospitable waters around the Falklands and South Georgia.
Most of her time as Atlantic Patrol Ship (South) was spent flying the flag for the UK, from helping to train Sierra Leone’s armed forces in the art of first-aid, fire-fighting and seamanship, to charity work in both West Africa and South America.

The energetic crew of HMS Montrose did not let the fact that they were at sea stop them running a charity marathon and half marathon.
The Plymouth-based warship HMS Montrose today rescued 11 Turkish seamen who were found drifting helplessly in two small boats after their ship sank beneath them two days ago.
HMS Montrose makes regular visits to her affiliated town of Montrose but for many of the ship’s company, including Captain, Commander Tom Watt, this will be their first time in this area of Scotland.
