  Edward Codrington - Definition, explanation
Sir Edward Codrington (1770-1851) was a British admiral and hero of the Battle of Trafalgar.
In December 1826 Codrington was appointed once again to the Mediterranean command, and sailed on the 1 February 1827.
Codrington had heard on the 22nd of June of his own supersession, but, as his successor had not arrived, he carried out the arrangement made on the 25th of July, and his presence at Alexandria led to the treaty of the 6th of August 1828, by which the evacuation of the Morea was settled.

At the commencement of World War II, Codrington was Flotilla leader of the 19th Destroyer Flotilla at Dover, her duties being to keep the English Channel free of mines and submarines, and to escort troops and stores to France for the British Expeditionary Force.
In all Codrington made eight trips to Dunkirk, between 28 May and 4 of June, four of which were to lift the troops off the beaches.
During this period Codrington was attacked by aircraft and shelled from the shore, but was not hit.

After reviewing the Falcon photographs submitted to the site, it is clear that the HMS Falcon serving in China deviated from the typical Falcon ship crest and created a unique crest for their ship which is entirely consistent with the discovered plaque.
The image seen center is from a photograph taken aboard HMS Falcon on the Yangtze and appears to show a gunstop (not necessarily obvious, the cat is sitting on a gun and the crest is the outer gunstop).

On 30th November, Maori and HMS Inglefield were on one of these patrols when they were ordered to help the submarine HMS Triad which was in difficulty off the coast of Norway.
HMS Maori, HMS Tartar and HMS Mashona were sent to the Faeroe Islands on 20 June 1940 in order to requisition the ships.
HMS Afridi's acceptance trials took place on 29th April 1938 in a rising gale but all went well and she was accepted.

She joined HMS Cossack's division in January 1939 and was the last Tribal to go to war in the Mediterranean.
On 12th February 1942 at 0200hours, while anchored at Malta, HMS Maori was attacked from the air and a bomb found its way into her engine and gear room.
Luckily, HMS Ashanti was the only Tribal to make a special journey to her namesakes, the country of Ghana in Africa and specifically an area known as the Gold Coast.
