  Colossus Class Light Fleet Aircraft Carriers
The Colossus Class was designed with a displacement of 18,300 tons and measurements of 630ft in length, 80ft in breadth and 23ft in draught.
Colossus, with Barracudas and Corsairs embarked, joined the 11th Aircraft Carrier Squadron at Sydney and joined the Pacific Fleet as the war was ending.
Accordingly in 1951 Colossus was bought outright and renamed Arromanches, commemorating the British sector of the Normandy Landings.

RN designation changed to R61 circa 1945 for service in the Pacific; arrived in the Pacific too late to see combat.
Construction work was not resumed until the ships were sold to foreign navies; eventually two ships were completed to a slightly modified version of the original design, three to an extensively modified design, and one was scrapped incomplete.
Design: Same as Colossus except a strengthened flight deck, improved subdivision and improved armament were fitted.

The fourth and last HMS Colossus (R15) had a relatively brief time with the Royal Navy.
She was broken up at Toulon in 1978, a place that had been present to the first Colossus in 1793 and the last in 1978.

Damaged by a torpedo from her own aircraft 16 November 1943 after the aircraft ditched alongside.
Departure from Service/Disposal: By the mid-1950's she had been replaced in the first-line role, by 1968 she could only operate helicopters, and in 1974 she was finally discarded.
