Admiralty orders of 5th June 1816 directed her to be built as a facsimile of HMS Canopus which was the ex French ship 'Franklin' which fought at the Battle of the Nile, 1st August 1798.
HMS Ganges sailed to Devonport for keel to be scraped.
By 1901 sufficient beds were ready ashore to enable HMS Caroline to discharge her patients and return to Chatham to be fitted out as an overflow training ship for the Ganges with accommodation for 60 boys.

HMS Emperor of India was an Iron Duke -class battleship of the Royal Navy.
Emperor of India was laid down on 31 May 1912 at Barrow-in-Furness by Vickers.
In 1918, Emperor of India was present at the surrender of the German High Seas Fleet, which was subsequently interned at Scapa Flow, and then scuttled by the Germans to prevent the warships falling into Allied hands.

HMS Benbow was scrapped in March 1931 along with HMS Marlborough and HMS Emperor of India.
HMS Iron Duke was converted to a gunnery training ship in 1931-32 but was badly damaged in a German air raid and was run aground on 17th October 1939.
HMS Iron Duke when she was the flag ship of the Grand Fleet flying the Admiral's flag (Admiral Sir John Jellicoe), and HMS Marlborough when she was the flagship of the First Battle Squadron, flying Vice-Admiral Sir Lewis Bayly's flag.

Transatlantic passenger services commenced in 1903 when the fleet and North Atlantic interests of Elder Dempster & Co and their subsidiary Beaver Line were taken over and the following year, a regular service between Seattle and Victoria BC was inaugurated.
The Bay of Funday route started in 1912 and in 1913 CPR and Allan Line started joint co-operation in victualling and stores depots and the two fleets eventually merged, but this was not formally announced until Jan. 1916.

For the remainder of the war he was attached to HMS Ferret, believed to be a Coastal Forces base on the East Coast, and HMS Wildfire, the base at Sheerness.

Since time immemorial, British warship names have been prefixed with "HMS", which stands for His Majesty's Ship or Her Majesty's Ship, depending on whether a king or queen is currently reigning.

The British completion of the HMS Dreadnought on 1-Oct-1906, brought very unexpected results.
HMS Dreadnought represented a true terror weapon of the day whose speed, armament, and firepower obsoleted every other battleship then in existence.
Rather than give Britain's large navy an even bigger advantage over Germany's small coastal fleet, it put them on an almost equal footing overnight, really only one battleship ahead.
