The master, 24 crewmembers and one gunner were picked up by HMS Vansittart, which had sunk U-102 shortly after the last attack and brought the survivors to Plymouth.
HMS Calendula escorted the damaged vessel to Falmouth, where they arrived on 5 July.

H.M.S. Gambia 1958 - 1960 AB RP who died in Canada.  A dear friend of both myself and Graham Spooner.
They were all to attend a HMS Ganges reunion being held here.
Richard (Dick) Tibbatts, was Commander of HMS Gambia for the 1957 - 1958 Commission.  He was a Submariner during WW2, and it only came to my notice that he had crossed the Bar purely by chance.

Last year, the Calgary RCMP commercial crime section raided HMS with a search warrant that alleged the enterprise was a prime bank instrument (PBI) fraud and Ponzi scheme.
It is alleged that investors were told that their investments were protected by bonds or cash held by HMS lawyers, including Bailey, but there "appears to have been no valuable security of this kind for the funds provided by investors, and HMS has defaulted in its payment obligations," a news release by plaintiffs' lawyers stated.

I left HMS Sussex which was in Gladstone Dock in Liverpool for a short refit in May 1940 and was drafted to Chatham Barracks (HMS Pembroke).
We traveled as a Ship's Company in a special train all night to arrive at Newcastle Station in the early morning and from there were marched through the town to the shipyard.
The whole operation shortly afterwards was called off and the Hambledon was taken in tow by HMS Vesper and taken back to Sheerness.

Nowadays, since Garth Ennis lives in NYC (Brooklyn, IIRC?), I think you'd be able to refer to him as "mac" or "mister," LOL!
