HMS Grafton (H-89) was a G class destroyer laid down by John I. Thornycroft and Company at Woolston in Southampton on 30 August 1934, launched on 18 September 1935 and completed on 20 March 1936.
HMS Grafton was torpedoed by the enemy German submarine U-62 and sank in the North Sea off Nieuport in Belgium on 29 May 1940.

HMS Iron Duke and HMS Norfolk, also both Type 23 frigates, were deployed to the region as part of NATO Standing Naval Forces patrolling the area and keeping the Yugoslav Navy under constant surveillance.

The crew of the HMS Grafton carried out a covert midnight operation on the suspected drug smugglers after they were first spotted from the warship's Navy Lynx helicopter on Thursday, the Navy said.
In the latest success, the HMS Grafton, which is based in Portsmouth, had been patrolling the seas between St Vincent and Barbados.

The Captain (D) was F197 HMS Grenville, a converted 'U' class destroyer, and you only have to log in on Google for masses of information on her.
F433 was a Loch Class frigate, HMS Loch Insh and some of them were still in commission in 1956-58, although I can't remember seeing her at Portland.

A gap of almost 80 years was ended in 1892 with the launch of the fifth, and Edgar-class cruiser, which served in the China Fleet, and during the war saw service in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red, Black and North Seas.
The sixth Grafton was the shortest-lived; the G-class destroyer commissioned in 1936 and spent much of the Spanish Civil War evacuating refugees and undertaking neutrality patrols off the Spanish coast.
The seventh Grafton was the first to miss out on military action – though the Type 14 frigate did see some rough stuff in the Cod Wars off Iceland before she was scrapped in 1971.
