  MaritimeQuest - HMS Hermes D-95 Message Board
My father served on HMS Hermes 11926/28 I think.
He was on it when it docked in Simonstown for repairs but not on it when it sailed on its final voyage before being sunk near Ceylon.
Is there a crew listing anywhere for the Hermes, I believe my father may have served on the Hermes in WW2 and I would be interested in finding out.

HMS Hermes (95) was the first purpose built aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy, and the second in the world after the Imperial Japanese Navy's Hosho.
During the Indian Ocean raid, Hermes was in harbour at Trincomalee, Ceylon, undergoing repairs.
Advance warning of a Japanese air raid allowed her to leave port, but as she returned following the raid on April 9, 1942, she was spotted off Batticaloa by a Japanese reconnaissance plane.

 Sheffield Class Type 42 Destroyers
During the Falklands Conflict (1982) this was a major problem as HMS Sheffield was destroyed not by the detonation of the exocet missile, but by the fires that spread through the ship at a rapid rate.
H.M.S Yarmouth, thus making Sheffield the first Royal Navy vessel to sink in action for almost forty years.
H.M.S Birmingham was the venue of the 1998 St Malo Anglo-French Naval Agreement.
