 Black Swan Class
Four ships were built two by Yarrows (HMS Black Swan, HMS Flamingo.) and two at Furness (HMS Erne, HMS Ibis,) HMS Ibis was sunk by an Airborne Torpedo on the 10th November 1942.
We would be interested in hearing from any known survivors who served with my Uncle George William Beeching on the HMS Ibis between 1940 and 1942 when the ship was hit by an airborne torpedo on 10 November.
I'm crrently researching info on the 'HMS wild Goose' as my Grandfather served on this ship during WW2, any info regarding this ship or routes it may have sailed would be gratefully received, please contact: jay03h@hotmail.com, thanks.

They were eventually picked up by HMS Jonquil in position 23.48N, 18.59W, 150 miles from land, on July 21, 1942.
After transferring to HMS Ibis, they were landed in Milford Haven on August 5, 1942.
The remaining survivors in the Captain's boat made for the Cape Verde Islands and landed there after 16 days but one crew member and two gunners died after being landed.

Following Brixham Coastguard's emergency broadcast to all vessels in the area, a helicopter from HMS Bulwark was sent to the scene and another dive boat called Seaquest to help with a surface search.
The rescue helicopter with the Royal Naval diver was on scene at 2120 at the last reported position for the dive and the diver undertook a sea bed search up to his maximum dive time but with nothing found.
The two other divers from the group were checked by a paramedic member of the lifeboat crew and due to the potential risk from rapid ascent; both were winched on board the helicopter from HMS Bulwark and transferred to the Plymouth hyperbaric dive chamber.

As you are probably aware HMS Plymouth is a museum ship, one of the last surviving vessels of the Falklands conflict and which currently has no berth.
The Association has raised a lot of money to pay for her to be moved to a new home but alas it is proving rather difficult to find her one.
The "Jasper" is about full now an some of you have asked for alternative accommodation near to the "Jasper"; we would suggest that the "Ibis" is reasonable and quite close - the "Radisson" is about 5 minutes away and very comfortable, a little up market.

Hospitality Management Services (HMS) Middle East Ltd, the company created to develop Express by Holiday Inn economy hotels in the Middle East, has raised close to Dh1.1 billion ($300 million) to develop 31 budget hotels in the GCC, said a senior HMS official.

The Taiwan Magpie was originally recorded by Swinhoe in 'The Ibis' in 1863 as the Long-tailed Mountain Nymph.
This name is clearly derived from the local Taiwanese name meaning 'long-tailed mountain girl', which poetically describes the sight of this bird in flight as its tail feathers, tipped in white and making up half its length, flow behind it.

Martin was incorrectly identified by Korvettenkapitan Wilhelm Domnes as a Leander class cruiser and he observed three of the four torpedoes that he fired to hit the destroyer.
Sloop HMS Ibis is attacked by Italian aircraft 10 miles North of Algiers at 37N 03E.
She shoots down three of the attacking aircraft but a torpedo dropped by another hit the ship amidships and she capsized and sank almost immediately.
