HMS Kent is the latest in a long line of famous warships and boasts a proud total of sixteen Battle Honours, including five during the 20th Century.
She was renamed HMS Kent by Charles II in his restoration to the throne.
HMS Kent is the twelfth ship to bear the name and the Royal Navy’s fourteenth Type 23 'Duke Class' frigate.

 Bermuda's History from 1700 to 1899
Colonel Arnold devised the early massive building and engineering program for HM Dockyard, that led to Bermuda being referred to later as the "Gibraltar of the West." His obvious accomplishments, skills and obvious leadership qualities in Bermuda were such that he was marked for prompt promotion and increased military responsibilities.
Construction of HM Dockyard in Bermuda was expedited.
H.M.S. Vixen displaced 1,230 tons and was built by Lungley Shipyard, Deptford, England, in 1864, and launched in 1867.

 John Jervis
Jervis was appointed to HMS Foudroyant in May 1758, a captured French prize, and he was charged with taking her back to England.
Jervis returned to active service with an appointment to HMS Kent in June 1755, but in September, he was appointed to command the ship which he brought back to England as a prize, HMS Foudroyant.
HMS Foudroyant remained with the Channel Fleet and was involved in the reliefs at Gibraltar in 1780 and 1781.

Slow production of twin 4.7inch gun mountings and the availability of a new 4.5inch gun with semi-automatic firing, brought about the instillation of these and with a slightly smaller hull, the C class destroyer and in particular the CH group and HMS Cheviot was born.
Two vessels of this class were launched in 1944 by the Clyde yard of Stephen and Sons Ltd, HMS Chevron and the Cheviot (2/5/44).
For 11 years the ship was at Hebburn while unsuccessful attempts were made to fund her as a museum vessel.

He joined the Royal Navy in 1770 where he served on HMS Hunter and became a Midshipman in 1771 serving on HMS Crescent and HMS Ranger.

As you might know Marine Albert Streams who was subsequently awarded the Albert Medal is, according to all he official reports and the court of enquiry, the only person who survived who was in the turret itself and he went back in to rescue survivors.
