  HMS M33 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
HMS M33 is a M29-class monitor of the Royal Navy built in 1915 as part of the rapid ship construction campaign following the outbreak of World War I.
For the remainder of the war she served in the Mediterranean and was involved in the destruction of the Greek fleet at Salamis Bay on September 1, 1916.
In 1925 the M33 became a mine-laying training ship and was renamed HMS Minerva.

HMS Captain was a British turret ironclad of 6950 tons displacement built in 1869 and lost in 1870 when it capsized off Finisterre.
Like HMS Courageous, HMS Glorious was completed in 1917 as a fast cruiser for use in the Great War in the Baltic, but by the 1920s with Britain wanting to increase her aircraft carrier strength she was converted to an aircraft carrier, as was HMS Courageous.
HMS Wasp was a British steam gunboat, which was lost in September 1887 while on a passage from Singapore to Hong-Kong.

Five years passed before she became part of the reserve fleet at Chatham, and in 1925 she was converted into a mine-laying training ship and based at HMS Vernon, in Portsmouth.
Converted into a boom defence workshop in 1943, she was towed to the Clyde a year later to become part of the boom defences for the remainder of the war.
HMS Minerva was returned to the Royal Clarence Yard in Gosport in 1946.

My intention is to provide anyone who seeks it, useful information regarding the medal commemorating the 1872-76 worldwide voyage of HMS Challenger, which (in hindsight) celebrates the beginning of the modern science of oceanography.
In the center is a head and shoulders left-facing profile of the Roman goddess of wisdom and war, Minerva (in one of her many roles).
He was Chief Scientist for the dredging voyages of HMS Porcupine and Lightning, and authored The Depths of the Sea in 1873, which summarized the findings of these voyages and presented a case for a global oceanographic voyage of exploration.

By the end of 1925, Ainsworth's growing stature in the field of ordnance won him the position of gunnery officer on the staff of the Commander, Destroyer Squadrons, Asiatic Fleet.
After refueling at Sitra, Bahrain, she operated near the Strait of Hormuz until 11 May and then took part in Exercise PASSEX in the Gulf of Oman with HMS Bacchante and HMS Minerva.
Following almost a month's labors in the vicinity of the Persian Gulf, she sailed for Djibouti on 8 July—beginning the first leg of her voyage home—and took part in further exercises with Bacchante and Minerva in the Gulf of Oman and in operations with America in the Arabian Sea.

Depth charged while laying mines in the Kattegat (between Denmark and Sweden) she attempted to reach Sweden but the badly damaged Seal was captured by the crew of an armed German trawler, the Frankin.
The rushing crowd behind was unable to stop and fell in a heap on top of her and the baby, suffocating each other.
The bombing of the MINERVA car factory in Antwerp, turned out to be one of the major tragedies of WW 11.

 Bermuda's History from 1900 to 1999
The anomaly in the command structure referred to in 1933 was rectified when this part of the Royal Navy Dockyard was transferred to the FAA and given the name of HMS Malabar.
As part of the preparations for World War 2, the increased workload at HMS Malabar caused problems due to the limited space available.
HMS Malabar closed, ending an association of 285 years with Bermuda.
