HMS Uganda was commissioned by the (Click link for more info and facts about Royal Navy) Royal Navy on 17 December 1942.
While serving in the (The largest inland sea; between Europe and Africa and Asia) Mediterranean Sea she took a direct hit from a 1.4-tonne glider-bomb off Salerno Italy.
The other members of her crew of 907 were also a carefully picked group and additional training was provided by sending personnel to gain experience on Royal Navy cruisers.

HMS Newfoundland, a Crown Colony class cruiser, was launched in December 1941 by Mrs Ernest Bevin, the wife of the British Minister of Labour.
On 6th July HMS Newfoundland left the forward base of Manus in the Admiralty Islands with other ships of the British Pacific Fleet to take part in the Anglo American attack on the mainland of Japan.
The Newfoundland was then assigned the task of repatriating British and Commonwealth prisoners of war, eventually arriving in the United Kingdom in December 1946.

 HMS Firedrake - the history of HMS Firedrake
On the night of the 16th December 1942, HMS Firedrake, an 'F' class Destroyer, was the escort leader to convoy ON153, with 43 ships bound for Canada.
HMS Firedrake tracked the contact to about 5 miles south of the convoy, when at 20.10 hrs she was hit by a torpedo fired by U-boat U211.
The Sunflower moved in quickly to pick up the men in the water, a Newfoundland rating, G J Furey, had a rope tied around his waist and was lowered down the side of Sunflower.

HMS ALBION has a floodable well dock, with the capacity to take either four utility landing craft (each capable of carrying a Challenger 2 tank) or operate several types of smaller landing craft, including hovercraft.
HMS ALBION sailed from the UK on Jan 12th and is deploying to Canada and the USA for six weeks to conduct Cold Weather Trials.
HMS ALBION will return to the UK following the completion of the trials, but as the on-call amphibious flagship, is liable to be deployed anywhere in the world at very short notice should the need arise.

Their father, Henry, was quoted in The Western Star as saying that he was disappointed that he was past the age when he could offer his own services in defence of the Empire, but was quite happy that his two sons had decided to fight for the cause.

Aboard the Newfoundland, the Royal Marines were serving the 6-inch guns, and it was the last time Royal Marine crews would serve naval guns in anger.
The Domiat was finished off by HMS Diana, a daring class destroyer when it was thought the Domiat was trying to ram her.

HMS Newfoundland, a Colony Class Cruiser was launched in December 1941 by Mrs Ernest BEVIN, the wife of the then Minister of Labour, and completed in December 1942 when she joined the 10th Cruiser Squadron, Home Fleet, to work up with her new ships company.
Newfoundland commissioned for the last time with a new ships company at Singapore and during August saw service in the Persian Gulf after the coup d'etat in Iraq in which King Feisal was assassinated.
In April 1959 HMS Newfoundland finally left the Far East returning to the UK via the Seychelles, East and South Africa and Freetown, arriving in Portsmouth in June.

After completion, the HMS Newfoundland (59) was assigned to the 10th Cruiser Squadron of the Home Fleet and then became the flagship of the 15th Cruiser Squadron in the Mediterranean, where she took part in the attack on Pantelleria in June 1943 and in the invasion of Sicily on month later.
After the war, the HMS Newfoundland (59) assisted in the repatriation of British and Commonwealth prisoners of war, eventually returned to Britain in December 1946, was placed in reserve and used as training ship before a refit at Plymouth in 1951.
The HMS Newfoundland (59) was hit in the stern and lost her rudder, but managed to reach Malta, steering only by propellors.

Prior to 1914, acceptance to the Newfoundland RNR required that candidates be seamen or fishermen between the ages of eighteen and thirty.
At the outbreak of World War One 75 percent of Newfoundland’s reservists were classified as qualified seamen, having trained at sea, passed an elementary examination in gunnery and seamanship, and been recommended by the Commanding Officer.
The log of HMS Fort Waldegrave (shore establishments also used the appellation “HMS”) indicates that these men were likely performing basic maintenance duties on the recently reactivated building and grounds.

On the night of 24th October 1943, in company with 'HMS Hurworth', 'HHMS Adrias' set off for a position south of Leros to create a diversion to protect ships landing stores on Leros for the British troops occupying the island.
On their way there they ran into a newly laid minefield, both ships were struck by mines, the 'Adrias' was first to be hit, she had her bows blown off as far back as the bridge.

On 14/15th June NEWFOUNDLAND was part of the Royal Navy Task Group which carried out sea and air strikes on the Japanese Naval Base of Truk in the Caroline Islands.
NEWFOUNDLAND put a landing party of seamen and Royal Marines ashore to take over the navy base at Yokosuka on the western shore of Tokyo Bay and was present in the Bay when the Instrument of Surrender was signed aboard USS MISSOURI on 2 September 1945.
Her first major peacetime task was to assist in the repatriation of British and Commonwealth prisoners of war and she eventually returned to the United Kingdom in December 1946.

HMS Bermuda part of the Fiji Class Cruisers of the Royal navy.
HMS Bermuda was built at Clydebank by John Brown Ship Builders, laid down on the 30th November 1939 and launched 11th September 1941 and completed on the 21st august 1942.
HMS Bermuda joined the Home Fleet once completed and stayed there until 2945 when she went to the Pacific.

 Travels with the Tall Ship Rose
In 2003 the ship appeared as the HMS Surprise in the 20th Century fox film Master and Commander: Far Side of the World starring Russell Crowe and directed by Peter Weir.
Now renamed Surprise in honor of her role in the film, the ship is open to the public daily as a dockside attraction at the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

It soon transpired that they were in fact HMS Africa (64 guns), the frigates Shannon, Guerriere (38s), Belvedira (36), and Aeolus (32), and the recently captured U.S. brig, Nautilus (12), under command of Captain Sir Philip Broke.
On August 19, Constitution was cruising the Grand Banks south of Newfoundland when she encountered Guerriere in position 41 degrees 42 minutes North, 55 degrees 48 minutes West.
She forced both ships to strike and both ships were taken as prizes, though Levant was recaptured by a British squadron on March 11.
