HMS Plymouth's Wasp was scrambled following the Wessex's sighting of the Santa Fe but was beaten to a firing position by one of Endurance's helicopters piloted by Lt Cdr Ellerbeck.
HMS Antrim and Plymouth provided fire when called to do so.
HMS Plymouth and HMS Endurance were sent to Leith to seize the area where the scrap men had first been landed.

 Rothesay Class Anti Submarine Frigates (Type 12 Modified)
Two units- Plymouth and Yarmouth -were directly involved in the conflict and were the oldest of all the frigates and destroyers in the taskforce.
Plymouth was then assigned to provide cover for the aircraft carriers and amphibious vessels and was the first vessel to enter San Carlos Water.
Plymouth left the Falklands with County Class Destroyer Glamorgan on June 21st, and returned to Rosyth on July 14th where she underwent full repairs.

On the night of March 15th 1917 she hit a mine, and the force of the explosion blew away the whole of her bows forward of the bridge, killing twenty-seven of her crew of seventy.

Devonport Park was unveiled on Saturday February 27th 1904 by Admiral Sir Edward H Seymour GCB OM, Commander-in-Chief at Devonport, and Vice Admiral Sir Robert H Harris, whose flag was flying on HMS Doris at the time of the action it commemorates.
HMS Doris seems to have been involved in at least two incidents during the Boer War in which the crew combined with the Royal Marine Light Infantry to form a Naval Brigade in order to fight ashore.
The crew of HMS Doris returned to Devonport on October 7th with the prize of one of the Boer's pom-pom guns.

Early in the war Plymouth was in the hedalines when HMS Ajax arrived in Plymouth Dockyard on January 31st 1940 after its historic action in the "Battle of the River Plate" against the German Graf Spee.
Plymouth was the last British port of call for HMS Illustrious enroute to the Mediterranean and its involvement in the historic Fleet Air Arm attack on the Italian Fleet at Taranto in November 1940.

July 1998, an open day of education and fun was arranged by the Commanding Officer of HMS Cambridge, Commander James Donaldson R.N. All proceeds were in aid of the Dame Hannah Rogers School for physically disabled children at Ivybridge near Plymouth, Devon, UK.
HMS Cambridge is a Naval Gunnery School that has been having "Target Practice Seawards" since 1940.
So the balmy afternoon passed, police dogs displayed, children had their faces painted with camo cream, the local Plymouth Lifeboat did a search and rescue display in teamwork with a sea king helicopter from HMS Culdrose.
