HMS Prince of Wales was a King George V-class battleship of the Royal Navy, built at Birkenhead, England.
Following the sinking of Hood and the disabling of much of her weaponry, Prince of Wales disengaged under a smokescreen, but not before scoring several hits on Bismarck, one of which is believed to have hit the fuel lines.
In December 1941, Prince of Wales arrived in Singapore, along with the battlecruiser HMS Repulse under Admiral Tom Phillips.

It was one of the King George V Class of British battleships designed to the constraints of the London Treaty.
On 24 May 1941 Prince of Wales and the battleship HMS Hood engaged the German battleship DMK Bismarck in an historic naval engagement in which Hood was sunk and Prince of Wales was damaged, but not before Prince of Wales struck Bismarck with three of her 14" shells.
Prince of Wales was subsequently sunk while in defense of Malaya on 10 December 1941 by Japanese aircraft in the South China Sea.

King George made several visits to the Grand Fleet in Scapa Flow, the first in July 1915, another in July 1916 when he stayed overnight on HMS Iron Duke and visited the flagships of all the squadrons in the Flow (to congratulate them on the Battle of Jutland).
