HMS Victory is a 104-gun ship of the line of the Royal Navy, built between 1759 and 1765.
The School remained on Victory until 1904, when training was transferred temporarily to HMS Hercules, and in 1906 the whole School was moved to a permanent establishment at the Royal Naval Barracks.
HMS Victory is still in commission as the flagship of the admiral for the time being acting as Second Sea Lord in his role as Commander in Chief of the Royal Navy's Home Command (CINCNAVHOME).

HMS Argonaut and her company were adopted by the City of Coventry after HMS Coventry the Ceres Class Light Cruiser had been sunk in September 1942 off the cost of Egypt by German JU-87 dive-bombers.
On December 14th 1942 HMS Argonaut was hit by two torpedoes from the Italian Submarine Mocenigo and was badly damaged with both her bow and stern blown off.
HMS Hero developed problems with her engines and was detached by the Admiralty on April 9th and the Argonaut was left on her own to cross the Atlantic.

HMS VICTORY is the only surviving warship that fought in the American War of Independance, the French Revolutionary War and the Napoleonic wars.
In the latter she served as Lord Nelson's flagship at the decisive Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
In 1903 she was accidentally rammed by HMS NEPTUNE under tow to the breakers.

HMS Chatham’s design was modified after experience with earlier versions of the ship in the Falklands Conflict.

HMAS QUIBERON was one of eight Q Class destroyers built for the Royal Navy, although QUIBERON was commissioned in the Royal Australian Navy at Cowes, Isle of Wight, on 6 July 1942.
QUIBERON operated in North African waters on convoy and fleet escort duties for the remainder of December 1942 and throughout January 1943.
QUIBERON rejoined the Eastern Fleet at Trincomalee, Ceylon, on 1 August 1944 and resumed escort duty in the Indian Ocean.

After disengaging from this action, the Allied force was attacked from the air, and HMS Quentin was hit by a torpedo and sunk, most of her crew were rescued.
HMS Sirius finished off yet another destroyer with one salvo which set her afire from end to end.
There were seven determined attacks on HMAS Quiberon after she left HMS Quentin and I was pleased to see that our fire was very accurate and time and again the Dive Bombers were turned away at the last minute, and either jettisoned their bombs or made no other attempt.

Originally laid down as destroyer HMS Quiberon, on 4th October 1940 and launched 31st January 1942.
The vessel was commissioned as HMAS Quiberon on 6th July 1942, armed with four 4.7" guns, eight 21" torpedo tubes and light Anti-aircraft armament.
HMAS Quiberon saw much action in WW II and was successful in a number of sea battles.

The British admiral Edward Hawke with 23 ships of the line caught up with a French fleet with 21 ships of the line under Marshal de Conflans, and after hard fighting, sank, captured, or forced aground most of them, thus giving the Royal Navy one of its greatest victories.
Hawke decided to follow them in, essentially relying on the lead of the French ships and their local pilots; a daring move made even more dangerous by a rising westerly storm.

The one known surviving variant, HMS Cavalier, was significantly modified during her service post-war, including the replacement of one gun with the Seacat missile system, although she is still very similar to the vessel that was built during the second world war.
HMS Cavalier is the only world war two vintage destroyer in the UK, and can be found at the Chatham historic dockyard.

 Royal Australian Navy Gun Plot
In July and September 1942 QUIBERON and QUICKMATCH were respectively commissioned into the R.A.N. and the remainder, QUALITY, QUADRANT and QUEENBOROUGH were operated by the R.N. initially before being handed over to the R.A.N. after the end of the war in late 1945.
She commissioned in the Royal Navy as HMS QUEENBOROUGH and served with distinction in the Arctic, the Mediterranean and the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
The conversion was completed at the end of 1954 and she recommissioned on 7 December 1954 as a unit of the 1st Frigate Squadron.

Conflans sailed straight for Quiberon to pick up the invasion army, and by 20 November was near his destination.
The result of the Battle of Quiberon Bay was that the British fleet of 23 ships had defeated the French fleet of 21 ships in French waters, causing the loss of seven French ships and over 2,500 men.

One of the finest victories in the annals of the Royal Navy was won in Quiberon Bay on France's Biscay coast near St Nazaire on a stormy November day in 1759, the 'wonderful year' of victories, immortalised in the song 'Hearts of Oak' composed to commemorate the battle.
This was reported to Hawke who sailed in pursuit through the continuing bad weather catching the enemy at Quiberon Bay where the French planned to embark their army.
Two British ships ran aground and were wrecked, but it was a small price to pay for the destruction of the Brest fleet and the end to the threat of a French invasion.
