The fourth HMS Sceptre (1943) was a 1940 -programme British S-class submarine (not to be confused with the earlier United States S-class submarines) launched on January 9, 1943, in Greenock, although her keel had been laid down in July 1940.
The fifth HMS Sceptre (S104), a Swiftsure -class submarine built by Vickers in Barrow-in-Furness, was commissioned on February 14, 1978, by Lady Audrey White.
In August 1995 Sceptre was forced to abort her patrol and return to Faslane after suffering, in the words of the Ministry of Defense, "an unspecified fault in the propulsion system." A defect in Sceptre's reactor was discovered in 1998, though its seriousness was not appreciated until after the investigation of another serious accident.

The HMS Splendid (S106) was a nuclear powered submarine of the Swiftsure class.
HMS Splendid was launched at Barrow on October 5, 1979, by Lady Ann Eberle, wife of Admiral Sir James Eberle, then Commander-in-Chief Fleet.
Unlike HMS Conqueror, Splendid did not fire in anger, she did however provide valuable reconnaissance to the British Task Force on Argentine aircraft movements.

Three of this class of vessels (HM/S Superb, Spartan and Splendid) were sent to the Falkland's war although they were not responsible for the sinking of the General Belgrano which was accomplished by then Commander Wreford-Brown in HM/S Conqueror, another SSN although of the earlier Valiant class SSN.
In doing this HM/S Splendid joined the (small) list of ships who are the subject of documentaries, when the BBC filmed a series on HM/S Splendid leading up to the time of the firing of the first Tomahawk missile.
HM/S Splendid was also the first Royal Navy submarine to fire a TLAM in anger, when in 1999 she was called to the gulf to support UN/NATO operations against Iraq when the latter broke the conditions of its previous surrender.

Your claim that a RN submarine not only detected but tracked and nearly had a firing solution on the Argentine carrier is the first I have ever heard such a claim.
Clearly it was not Sceptre so I'm wondering which submarine it supposedly was and where you got this information.
On 26 April HMS Splendid did sight a group consisting of the two Type 42 destroyers and frigates along the Argentine coast and shadowed it, but the carrier was not among them.
