HMS Superb, a Swiftsure-class attack submarine, steamed back into Scottish waters having clocked up 26,000 miles in support of UK operations in the Mediterranean, Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean.
Her specific role was to help protect the Royal Navy ships involved in the operation, by using her sensors to watch for any surface or aerial threat to the UK naval force.
Upon returning to Clyde HMS Superb first headed to the Royal Navy Armament Depot at Coulport to offload her weapons, before moving round to the Faslane navy base.

 Tri-ang Minic Ships - HMS Superb
The models of HMS Swiftsure and HMS Superb were identical distinguished only by the model number and name marked on the underside.
HMS Superb was the first of the Group 2 ships to commission in the Royal Navy two of the remaining vessels, HMS Tiger and HMS Hawke, being cancelled in March 1946 and the other three vessels, HMS Defense, HMS Bellerophon and HMS Blake, being laid up prior to completion.
HMS Superb was not completed in time to see any action during World War II and spent most of her operational life as a squadron flagship in the West Indies, East Indies and Home Fleet.

In 1722, Byng passed his Lieutenant's examination at the age of 18 but he continued as an able seaman on HMS Dover and HMS Solebay until 1724, when he was appointed as a Second Lieutenant to HMS Superb, the first ship he had served on.
Hoisting his flag on HMS Ramillies, Byng was surprised to find that nine of his thirteen ships were desperately short of men but the Admiralty refused to allow him to enlist men from the other ships in the harbour.
Byng was moved from confinement on HMS Antelope to HMS Royal Anne in Portsmouth Harbour and then on to the Royal Hospital at Greenwich.

HMS Superb was designed by Sir Edward Reed for the Turkish Navy, and was built in Britain by Thames Ironworks under the name of Hamidieh.
Together with the two ships of the Belleisle class and HMS Neptune, she was compulsorally purchased by the British Government at the time of the Russian war scare of 1878.
Although Superb was intended to be able to proceed under sail, and was barque-rigged to this end, it was found that she was unmanageable without power, so no sailing statistics were ever elicited.

HMS Superb was the Flagship of Vice-Admiral Sir Richard Symonds-Tayler, K.B.E., C.B., D.S.C., Commander-in-Chief, America and West Indies Station, and initially commanded by Captain Yendell, who was also Chief of Staff.

HMS Montrose is a Type 23 Frigate; she was launched at Yarrow Shipbuilders Ltd in Glasgow on 31st July 1992 and was accepted formally in to the Royal Navy at a commissioning ceremony on 2 June 1994.

The destroyer HMS Fury succeeded in attaching a cable between the Audacious and Olympic, and at 2.00 p.m.
