HMS Thor, pennant number P349, was a Royal Navy Group Three T-class submarine laid down at Portsmouth Dockyard on April 5 1943 and launched on April 18 1944.
However the war ended before she was completed and she was sold for scrapping to Rees Shipbreaking Co Ltd of Llanelly, Wales in July 1946.
Her sister vessel HMS Tiara was launched on the same day at Portsmouth dockyard and not completed either.

The master, 41 crewmembers and seven gunners were picked up by minesweeper HM MMS-107 and landed at Freetown on 19 April 1943 - Submarine HMS P-615 left Freetown under escort by minesweeper HMS MMS-107 on passage to the South Atlantic Command to provide ASW escort training.
They suggest that the second submarine may have been HMS Turbulent, prevented from taking part in the exercise by the incident which forced it to return to port for repair.

On 17th April 1915 whilst attempting to run beneath the minefields guarding the Dardanelle Straits, HMS E15 was swept ashore by the strong currents.
E15 came under heavy fire from the fort, one shell killing the Captain, another hitting the vessels battery compartment forcing the crew to surrender.
Many attempts were made to prevent the submarine falling into enemy hands and finally a torpedo launched from HMS Majestic put paid to Turkish attempts to re-float the submarine.

They meet to the NW of the port and the destroyer is sunk at around 09.00 at 64' 27''N, 06'28''E, but not before she rams and damages the Hipper.
On 8 April 1945, she reported her position to submarine USS Tigrone & when she did not acknowledge messages sent from Tigrone the next day, it was presumed that she had headed toward Luzon Strait.

HMS Graph was an ex captured U Boat and HMS Thetis was renamed Thunderbolt after sinking and eventual recovery, on acceptance trials off the Mersey in 1939.
Eighty-two boats was a high number compared to the American boats lost (52), but a very low number compared to the German Kreigsmarine U Boat losses (637).
The submarine service won 9 Victoria Crosses during the second war and four of those were allocated to X Boat crews.

Although there is some confusion about it, it would appear that the tiara has been suppressed and that the headgear on the arms is in fact a mitre.
Every day that passes there is some new bit of confirming evidence that in matters where the distinction makes any sense the conservative wing of the Church is going to be a lot more astonished by this papacy than will the liberal.
Whether there's a tiara or mitre doesn't make any real difference to me. I wouldn't have been disappointed with that and I'm not what one would call liberal.

If the tiara were reinstated, the current Mass and Vatican II revoked and the clock turned back to 1953, I think many trads would still find themselves strangely, inexplicably unhappy.
As far as I can tell, though, he doesn't have a tiara, either (heck, his "Apostolic Palace" is surrounded by chickenwire), since that old "heretical Vatican II sect" keeps him from properly taking possession of the Chair of St. Peter (the cost of the plane ticket is probably on obstacle for HH P13, too).
Apparently, the tiara does appear with Benedict's arms on the Swiss Guard flag and this enraged the minions of Satan who had thought the sacred tiara was purged.
