 [No title]
Uganda had been designated a 60-mile square area of South Atlantic and when she was needed she sped down to a similar area known as the 'Red Cross Box' just off the Falklands where she could pick up casualties.
Uganda too would now have to be refitted and made ready to resume her former role, so shortly after she arrived home, she sailed north to Smiths Ship-repairers in North Shields to be converted back into a cruise ship.
Uganda's return to cruising had had plenty of publicity but the company was worried about the effect her withdrawal from cruising may have had.

 The Uganda Episode
Uganda was attached to the Fourth Cruiser Squadron, and participated in radar picket, anti-aircraft and shore bombardment duties.
Unfortunately, the perception of mutiny and cowardice associated with Uganda tends to overshadow the fact that she was the only Canadian warship to actively participate in hostilities against Japan, and that she was held in high regard by the British Pacific Fleet.
It is a shame that as we remember the saga of HMCS Uganda sixty years later, her contribution to the final victory in the Pacific Theatre has been reduced to remembering that she is the only warship in history known to have voted herself out of a war.
